Vocational scenario
In your role of Human Resources Administrator, you have been asked by your
line manager to undertake a critical review of HR practices and processes in
order to produce a roadmap for successfully strengthening the organisation’s
talent management strategy.

The review will evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of HRM to critically
evaluate factors that will contribute to decisions taken; it is to be delivered as
a presentation that gives a clear vision and roadmap to success. The priority
objective is to improve recruitment and employee engagement and
motivation, and to grow internal talent.

Assignment activity and guidance

The presentation will include the following:

(1) An overview of the selected organization (This does not directly serve
any evaluation criteria but should be included in the students’
assignment to provide context information about the organization that
students select for the assignment)
(2) Explain the main areas of HRM in their contribution to creating
sustainable performance.
(3) Compare areas of HRM to create sustainable organisational
performance.
(4) Review the effects of the changing nature of organisations on human
resources skills and knowledge.
(5) Examine HRM in relation to the changing nature of the modern business
organisation.
(6) Review relevant HRM practices in relation to recruitment and retention
of employees for the achievement of business objectives.

(7) Critically evaluate the effectiveness of current recruitment and retention


practices within a chosen organization and industry.

(8) Critically evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of HRM in relation to


creating sustainable organisational performance and achieving business
objectives.
