“The Mysterious Visitor.

A scientific romance”

It was a chilly but sunny day in October. I woke up and looked out the window. I
realised today is my first day in high school. In Reno, there were not so many
children, so it was not surprising for me that going to a new place meant that almost
every child knew little about you or heard gossip from your mutual schoolmates. My
close friends often called me a lone wolf. I must admit that I liked that nickname,
although I was treated like an outcast in the school community. The reason of looking
at me like a freak was that I always wore dirty black trainers, trousers with holes, and
various types of T-shirts referring to death. I was a calm and taciturn teenager, but I
would rather say that it was just a common disposition in my family. Teachers never
made a comment about my style, apparently, they appreciated my talent for learning
new languages or just did not want to get involved in an argument with me. Having
trust issues made me never start a conversation with strangers and always avoid
their sight; otherwise, it evoked my shyness immediately. It could be the main reason
why I hung out only with my friend Mickey for the entire junior high school.
Unfortunately, his parents decided to move to Florida, where they found a better-paid
job. Since then, I chatted almost every day with Mickey on Messenger. My maze of
thoughts was suddenly disturbed by my mother rushing into my room and screaming
that I was late for the first day of classes. It was nothing untypical of her, she was
always really effusive. I checked the time quickly and started dressing up in last
night's prepared clothes. In a flash, I found myself sitting alone at the back of my
class. I was nervous and almost passed out, as it was the second time I had been
around unfamiliar faces. After two minutes from the sound of the school bell, a new
history teacher came in, and behind him I noticed a tall, blonde, blue-eyed boy. Mr.
Pumpkins introduced himself and told us that in our small town, a new family had
moved in. It shocked me because who wanted to live in such a backward town.

- Our new buddy Anthony lost the ability to hear in a car accident, and since then he
has used sign language, but do not worry, he is able to lip-read, so please be
considerate.- he informed us. And told him to sit next to me as it was the last free
seat.

- Another weirdo in our school. It is a little bit crowded for two of us to be here. - I
thought.

He sat next to me, smiled, and gave me a wave. I just said a simple "Hello". That we
spent the whole day at school. After three days, during our math lesson, Anthony
stained his hands with pen ink. I was told to go to the toilet and try to prevent him
from messing up the surroundings. In the school bathroom, he laughed and gave the
impression that he treated the whole situation as a silly accident. He signed me
"thank you" with a grin on his face. That is how our friendship started. Having a great
talent for acquiring new things, I started learning to sign. During that process, we
bonded with each other, so we spent every free moment together. He usually visited
me at my house. We were playing all kinds of games, watching horror movies, and,
most importantly, dishing about our classmates because I never had a chance to do
it. Three months later, after sharing time together, we became best friends. The more
I was with Anthony, the more I was catching feelings. I asked him if there would be
any possibility of introducing me to his family. Initially, he did not want to agree, but
he finally indulged in my pressure. Being among his family was the most peculiar
experience. Inside the house, it was freezing cold. During the dinner, the family,
including the mother, sister, and father, behaved like robots, and their faces and
gestures appeared so artificial to me. We went upstairs and talked about the
universe, since it was the most engrossing topic for both of us. Out of thin air, he told
me he needed to get something done and instructed me to stay in the room. I started
looking around his room. I suddenly saw a brisk beam of light. Then I spotted a flying
saucer, and at the same time, Anthony shot off, looked at me with a nervous glance,
walked up to me, and clenched my hands. I felt like my whole body was shaking and
the blood temperature was rising. He kissed me.

- I am not from the earth - he said with a real shrill human voice.
