Setting and Atmosphere
Introductory Message
This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st-century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

used to depict skill, action, and purpose. Through our hands, we may learn, create,
and accomplish. Hence, the hand in this learning resource signifies that you as a
learner is capable and empowered to successfully achieve the relevant competencies

Basically, what is a setting?
The setting may also include the environment of the story, which can
be made up of the physical location, climate, weather, or social and
cultural surroundings.
Setting can be real or imaginary.
A good setting helps the reader in the story.
A good author includes descriptions of the setting using the five senses.

The setting becomes symbolic of the theme of the story.
Sometimes in fiction, we encounter details of setting that seem to function
as a projection or objectification of the internal states of the characters or
a pervasive spiritual condition.
ATMOSPHERE
Called as metaphorical function
Is the creation of an atmosphere which has been more talked about than
defined, there is a possibility of a contrasting atmosphere.
