Subject : TMBC

EARTH AND SPACE

i. OBJECTIVE
A. Content Standard

-The learners demonstrate an understanding of people, animals, plants, lakes, rivers,

streams, hills, mountains, and other landforms, and their importance.
-Types and effects of weather as they relate to daily activities, health and safety .
Natural objects in the sky affect one’s daily activities

B. Performance Standard

- The learners should be able to express their concerns about their surroundings through
teacher-guided and self –directed activities.
- Express ideas about safety measures during different weather conditions creatively (through
artwork, poem, song).
- List down activities which affect their daily activities.

C. Learning Objectives

1. Describe the things found in the surrounding

2. Relate the importance of surroundings to people and other living things;

3. describe the changes in the weather over a period of time

4. Communicate how different types of weather affect activities in the community; are

5. Enumerate and practice safety and precautionary measures in dealing with different types of
weather.
6. Describe the natural objects that are found in the sky during daytime and nighttime

7. Communicate how the natural objects in the sky affect daily activities

8. Enumerate safety measures to avoid the harmful effects of the Sun’s heat and light

3.1 The Surroundings

2.1 Weather
3.1 Natural Objects in the Sky

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

At the end of Grade 3, learners can describe the functions of the different parts of the body and
things that make up their surroundings --- rocks and soil, plants and animals, the Sun, Moon and
stars. They can also classify these things as solid, liquid or gas. They can describe how objects
move and what makes them move. They can also identify sources and describe uses of light,
heat, sound, and electricity. Learners can describe changes in the conditions of their
surroundings. These would lead learners to become more curious about their surroundings,
appreciate nature, and practice health and safety measures.

B. Developing Activities
Rotation and Revolution of the Earth
Materials: Globe or model of the Earth, flashlight, marker

Instructions:
1. Use a globe or model of the Earth to demonstrate rotation and revolution.
2. Explain the concepts of rotation (spinning on its axis) and revolution (orbiting around
the sun).
3. Use a flashlight to represent the sun and mark the rotation and revolution paths on the
globe.
4. Divide students into groups and provide each group with a globe and flashlight to
practice demonstrating rotation and revolution.
5. Use rubrics to grade their understanding and performance.
Assessment Questions:
1. What is rotation?
2. How long does it take for the Earth to complete one revolution around the sun?
C. Activity
 Pictures
 Resources ( www.onlineworksheetsforkids.com)

D. Analysis
Questions:
1. What do you think about the pictures?
2. Do you have any idea what is space and earth?
E. Abstraction
- Summarize the key concepts learned in the activities, such as the shapes of celestial
bodies, rotation and revolution of the Earth, and cultural interpretations of
astronomical events.
F. Application
 Instruction: Put a check (/) if the answer is correct and put an (X) if the answer is not.
 Resources (www.kidsacademy.mobi)
iv. EVALUATION

 Teachers can assess the students’ learning through various means, such as giving written

quizzes, oral presentations, or project-based assessments. They can evaluate the student

ability to differentiate different types of matter, describe their properties, and apply their

knowledge of real-life situations.

V. ASSIGNMENT/ENRICHMENT/REMEDIATION

 Provide an assignment where students can research/ cite and create a presentation about a
famous astronomer or a significant astronomical event in history.

VI. REAMRKS

Which phase in the 4as lesson plan did you find easy to make? which was quite difficult?
