Lesson activity and Presentation guidance
timing
Warm-up For warm-up, students will challenge each other to find
8 minutes any specific command that can be used to set the print or
page settings. After a few minutes, let students know
that they’ll be learning about adding and editing headers
and footers into a worksheet. Then, ask students to
answer the Warm-up questions in their Student Guide if
time permits. If time permits, you can try to clear any
questions that have not been resolved in the “mud
puddle”.
Topic 1: Activity In this activity, you will open a discussion about adding
8 minutes extra information to the header or footer to help anyone
understand what the data in a workbook is about.
Topic 1: Try-it 1 and 2 Use students’ responses and performance in the warm-up
6 minutes and discussion activity to help them decide which level of
the try-it activity they will attempt to add information into
the header/footer.
Topic 2: Activity In this activity, students will make a change to the
7 minutes header or footer on their own device and then move to
the next device when you call “switch” to make a change
on that device. (An accessible alternative has been
included in the TG.)
Topic 2: Try-it 1 and 2 Use students’ responses and performance in the warm-up
5 minutes and the activity to help them decide which level of the
try-it activity they will attempt to edit the header/footer.
Wrap-up Ask students to create a 3-column list labelled K, W, and
6 minutes L. In the K column, they should write what they know
about the day’s topic. In the W column, they should write
what they wonder about the topic. In the L column, they
should write what they need to learn to be proficient in
the topic. If time allows, ask the students to answer the
Wrap-up questions in their Student Guide. Consider
reviewing the answers as a class using the PPT slide.
Collect the K-W-L responses as students leave the
classroom.
