Operating System Installation

(Alma Linux)
Steps
Step 1: Download AlmaLinux ISO
Visit the official AlmaLinux website (https://almalinux.org/) and navigate to the
download section. Choose the Alma-linux ISO file 64-bit, and download it to
your computer.

Step 2: Create Bootable Media

Once the ISO file is downloaded, you need to create a bootable USB drive. You
can use tools like Rufus (for Windows) to create a bootable USB drive.

Step 3: Boot from the Bootable Media

Insert the bootable USB drive into the computer where you want to install
AlmaLinux. Restart the computer and enter the BIOS or UEFI settings.
Configure the boot order to prioritize the USB drive so that your system boots
from it first. Save the changes and exit the BIOS or UEFI settings. Your
computer should now boot from the bootable media.

Step 4: Start the Installation Process

Once the system boots from the bootable media, you'll see the AlmaLinux
installation screen. Select the "Install AlmaLinux" option from the menu and
press Enter.

Step 5: Choose Installation Language

Select your preferred language for the installation process and click
"Continue".

Step 6: Configure Installation Destination

AlmaLinux installer will detect your system's hard drive(s). Choose the drive
where you want to install AlmaLinux. You can also configure partitioning
options here if you need to create custom partitions. Once you've made your
selections, click on "Done" to proceed.

subnet mask, gateway, DNS servers, etc.

Step 8: Set Timezone

Select your timezone from the map or choose it from the drop-down menu and
click "Done".

Step 9: Set Root Password

Create a strong password for the root user and confirm it. It's essential to
choose a secure password to protect your system. Click "Done" once you've
set the password.

Step 10: Create User

You'll be prompted to create a regular user account. Provide the necessary
details such as username, full name, and password. Ensure that the password
is strong and click "Done".

Step 11: Begin Installation

Review the installation summary to verify the configurations you've made. If
everything looks correct, click on "Begin Installation" to start the installation
process.

Step 12: Wait for Installation to Complete

The installation process will now begin, and it may take some time depending
on your system's hardware specifications. Once the installation is complete,
you'll see a message indicating that you can now reboot your system.

Step 13: Reboot

Click on the "Reboot" button to restart your system. Remove the bootable
media (USB drive) from your computer to ensure that it boots from the hard
drive.
