Title: Summer of Change

Characters:

 James: The boy who gets bullied.


 Ethan: The bully.
 Ms. Carter: The teacher and summer school principal.
 Lily: The teacher’s pet and the girl who helps James.

Scene 0.1 in the hallway


(before class starts ethan was making some noise)
Cath what is all that commotion
Ethan nothing miss just dropped my bottle.
Cath well alright
Ethan heynerd you beter have my algebra done or else its you ill be smocking instead of weed.
James ( in locker) im almost done. You know youl never get away with this right.
Ethan shut up.
( miss carter sees sum action but thinks nothing of it)

Scene 1: In the Classroom


(James is quietly sitting at his desk, Ethan throws a paper ball many times at him. Ms. Carter
notices and gets suspicious.)
Ms. Carter: (concerned) Class, I’ve noticed some unsettling behavior lately. We’re going to
have an anonymous poll about bullying. Please be honest.
(Students fill out the poll. James hesitates but submits his, denying the bullying.)
Scene 2: After School
(Ms. Carter reviews the polls and sighs, disappointed. She calls James to her office.)
Ms. Carter: James, the poll results were inconclusive, but I’ve seen what’s happening. Why
didn’t you speak up?
James: (looking up) I said I wasn’t being bullied right, so get out of my face.
Ms. Carter: (angry) well, I think other wise, you cant even show respect to yout teacher. Your
spending summer in class that’s the best fitting thing to do.

Scene 3: Summer School Classroom


(Ms. Carter is teaching. Ethan snickers at James. Lily observes quietly. Ethan flicks a rubber
band at James, hitting him in the back of the head.)
James: (rubbing his head, whispers) Ow! Why do you keep doing this?
Ethan: (whispers back) Because it’s fun, and you won’t do anything about it.
Ms. Carter: (noticing) Is there something you’d like to share with the class, boys?
Ethan: (smirking) No, Ms. Carter. Just discussing the lesson.
0.4 break
Ethan he punk you done with my presentation
Nerd what… what presentation
Ethan quit playin nerd you done or not, or else
Nerd but you didn’t say about the presentation
Ethan wong answer bud
( ethan hits nerd many times bu lily snuck around and caught them on camera)

(Lily raises goes to the office.)


Lily: Ms. Carter, I need to tell you something.
Scene 4: Principal’s Office
(Lily reveals Ethan’s bullying to Ms. Carter.)
Lily: Ms. Carter, Ethan has been bullying James. I’ve seen it all year and I finaly have proof, it’s
not right.
Ms. Carter: (determined and at shock) Thank you, Lily. I’ll handle this.

Scene 5: Confrontation
(Ms. Carter confronts Ethan in front of the class.)
Ms. Carter: Ethan, bullying is unacceptable. You’ll be facing serious consequences for your
actions.
Ethan: (defensive) But I didn’t do anything!
James: (finding his voice) That’s not true. He’s been making my life miserable.
Ethan james shut th ass up, anyways which one snitched ill be out for you
Ms. Carter: (firmly) Enough. Ethan, you’ll be spending the rest of the summer in detention.

Scene 6: Resolution
(The summer school ends. James and Lily are talking.)
James: Thanks for what you did, Lily. I feel like I can finally breathe.
Lily: (smiling) That’s what friends are for. Let’s make sure next year is different.
Ms. Carter: (joining them) And I’ll be here to make sure of that. Let’s all work together for a
better school year.

(The curtain falls as they all share a hopeful look towards the future.)
