Research Project Preparation Guidelines for MBA/BBA/B.COM Programme

IMPORTANT POINTS:

1. Students are required to prepare Research Project Report with the help of their respective
faculty guides which have been allotted to them.

2. Students have to decide a topic on which they have to prepare a Research Project Report. The
Topic has to be approved by their respective Faculty Guide.

3. The Research Project Report must have an appropriate Title.

5. Report has to be systematically written as per standard guidelines (Font-Times New Roman,
Font Size - 12 and Line Spacing – 1.5)

6. No two or more reports could be identical even if the organization and project is common.
Each student should write a separate report and clearly mention his / her individual contribution.

7. Prepare 2 Hard bound copies of Dissertation Report.

Organization of the Research Report

1. Title& Title Page

2. Abstract

4.2 literatures Survey

4.4 Research Methodology

4.5 Data Analysis

1. Title and Title Page

First page of report. Try to find a title that clearly describes the work you have done and
be as precise as possible. Mention your name, role number, guide’s name, name of the
department, name of the University, place and month and year of the report.

2. Abstract
The abstract should, in the briefest terms possible, describe the topic, the scope, the
principal findings, and the conclusions.. The abstract should not occupy more than one
page (about 150 to 200 words). This page should precede the content page.

3. Table of Contents (TOC)

Should list only those items that follow it appearing in the following order

3.1 List of tables (1.1, 1.2, 1.3.., 2.1, 2.2, .. etc.)

3.2 List of figures (1.1, 1.2, 1.3.., 2.1, 2.2, .. etc.)

3.3. The chapters (1, 2 … N, followed by the name of the chapter),
3.3.1. Sections within chapters (e.g. 1.1, 2.4, etc. + name)
3.3.1.1. Subsections within sections (e.g. 1.1.1 + name) - Appendices (I, II, III, IV,
.. etc. + name), if any
3.4. References
4. The Chapters. The number of chapters you need and their contents strongly depend on
the topic selected and the subject matter to be presented. Roughly the following chapters
may be included. However, the structure of report may be according to the flow of
overall logic and organization.

4.1 Introduction: In this chapter you formulate the problem that you want to address,
the initial goals you had, etc. without going into details. Here you also describe the
structure of the rest of your report, indicating which chapter will address which issue.

4.2 Literature Survey: The discussion on the literature may be organized under a
separate chapter & titled suitably. Summarize the literature that you have read. This will
help you in developing your own thinking discipline and technical language.

4.3 Research Methodology: This section will have the following components-

i. Research Objectives

ii. Research Methodology (Including Type of Research design e.g. Exploratory,

Descriptive, Experimental, etc., Sampling Technique & amp; Sample Size)

iii. Analysis and Interpretation of Data

iv Limitations of the Study

4.5 Data Analysis

In this section, relevant data, observations, and findings are summarized. Tabulation of
data, equations, charts, and figures can be used effectively to present results clearly and
concisely. Schemes to show reaction sequences may be used here or elsewhere in the
report.

4.6 Discussion & Conclusion The crux of the report is the analysis and interpretation of results.
What do the results mean? How do they relate to the objectives of the project? To what
extent have they resolved the problem? Because the “Results” and “Discussion” sections are
interrelated, they can often be combined as one section. You may point out the issues
recommended for future research.

References
Literature references should be collated at the end of the report and cited in APA .Do not
mix formats. All references should be checked against the original literature.
