Greeting and Introduction (2-3 minutes)

 Good [morning/afternoon], everyone!

 My name is Kyrel Joy P. Pablo, your instructor for the subject Computer Engineering
 Before I start my demonstration, I would like to take a moment to pray. Let us bow our
heads

Dear Lord,

Thank you for this opportunity to learn and grow together. Please bless our time
today and guide us with wisdom and understanding. Help us to focus, participate, and
make the most of this session.

Amen.

 Today, I will be introducing you to the fascinating world of logic circuits and Boolean
algebra.

2. Engage with a Hook (2-3 minutes)

"Have you ever wondered how your computer makes decisions so quickly?"
"How do digital devices like your phone or calculator understand and process
information?

3. State the Objectives (1-2 minutes)

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

1. Identify the symbols and functions of basic logic gates.
2. Construct and design truth tables for logic gates.
3. Give importance on the uses of logic circuits.

 Show a Short Video/Animation:

o Play a brief video or animation that illustrates the concept of binary logic in
digital devices. This visual aid will grab their attention and provide a context for
the lesson.
 Present the Topic:
o "Today, we'll explore the building blocks of these digital systems: logic circuits
and Boolean algebra."
o "Logic circuits are electronic circuits that process binary inputs to produce binary
outputs. They are fundamental to the operation of digital systems."
o
 "Let's begin by understanding the basic components of logic circuits: the logic gates."
o Logic gates are small digital switching circuit that determines the output of two
or more inputted functions in Binary format. Logical ‘1’ means ‘True’ or ‘High’
in nature, whereas logical ‘0’ means ‘False’ or ‘Low’ in nature. Based on
different logical operations, the output differs. There can be many inputs in a
logic gate but there will be only one output. Each logic gate has its own truth
table which represents all the combinations of input and output.

6. Interactive Element: Constructing Truth Tables

 Engage the Audience:

o "Now, let's create the truth tables for these gates together."
o Use a whiteboard or a digital tool to construct the truth tables interactively with
student participation.

7. Hands-On Activity Introduction (1-2 minutes)

 Explain the Activity:

o "Next, you'll get some hands-on experience by building simple logic circuits
using breadboards and components."
o "You'll work in small groups to create logic circuits that demonstrate the
functions of logic gates."

8. Monitor and Assist During the Activity (10 minutes)

 Walk Around and Provide Guidance:

o As students work on the activity, move around the room to offer help, answer
questions, and ensure everyone is engaged and understanding the task.

Conclusion

After the activity, conclude with a summary of what was learned, address any questions, and
provide a quick assessment to gauge understanding.

Simple Group Activity: Exploring Logic Circuits

Objective:

To understand and apply the basic principles of logic gates by constructing truth tables and
simple logic circuits.

Materials:

 Worksheet for each group (containing circuit diagrams and blank truth tables)
 Pens or pencils

Instructions:

1. Form Groups:
o Divide the class into small groups of 3-4 students each.
2. Distribute Worksheets:
o Hand out the worksheets to each group. The worksheet should include diagrams
of simple logic circuits and blank truth tables.
3. Worksheet Structure:
o The worksheet should have 3-4 simple logic circuits, each using different
combinations of basic logic gates (AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR, XOR,
XNOR).
o Each circuit diagram should be followed by a blank truth table for the students to
fill out.
