3. The figure below is a trapezium (not drawn to scale) in which PS//QR, QR = 20 cm,
RS = 8 cm, PS = 6.8 cm and QRS = 35°. Calculate the area of the trapezium to 2 d.p.

5. A bus started from rest and accelerated to a speed of 60km/h as it passed a billboard. A
car moving in the same direction at a speed of 100km/h passed the billboard 45 minutes
later. Calculate how far from the billboard the car caught up with the bus. (4 marks)
6. From a window 25 metres above a street, the angle of elevation of the top of a wall on
the opposite side of the street is 15°. If the angle of depression of the base of the wall
from the window is 35°, find the height of the wall, to the nearest whole number.

8. A saleslady is paid a monthly salary of Ksh 20,000 plus commission on goods sold
above Ksh 50,000. In the month of March, she sold goods worth Ksh 90,000 at the end
of that month.
If her total earnings were Ksh 21,200, what percentage commission was she given?

Switzerland. The race that started at 8:50 p.m. EAT took Omanyala 10.18 seconds. At
what time of day did Bracy complete the race? (2 marks)
17. Four wooden pegs P1, P2, P3 and P4 are fixed on a level round such that P2 is 24m from
P1 on a bearing of N65°E. P4 is 28m on a bearing of S63°E from P1. P3 is due east of P4
and on a bearing of S45°E from P2.
