Overview (Introduction)
 Our life’s experiences become more meaningful when we allow God’s
presence in our life and realize that He is indeed always present.
 God has been working all along in the life of His people because He
wants them to be united with Him.
 God never leaves His people because He is a faithful God.
 God's plan of love in the Old Testament is to bring us together in the
Lord Jesus Christ, our brother.

Discovering God’s Word


Read the bible passage Gen. 3:15 and nswer the following questions.

1. The passage from Genesis is full of symbols. Below you will find this
symbols. For what do you think this symbol stands?

2. God addressed his words to the snake. What do you think does the
snake represent? What is your basis for your answer?
Snake represents temptation – People are easily tempted by anything to
just to fill up their wants. The snake in Genesis is tempting to eat the
forbidden fruit to resolve their curiosity about it.
3. God said that he will establish an enmity between the snake and the
woman. Whom do you think does the woman represent? Justify your

answer.
The woman represents human – People easily give in to temptation.
4. God said that he wil establish an enmity not only between the snake
and the woman but also between their seeds. Who is the seed of the
woman? Give the reason for your answer.
The seed of the woman who will strike the head of the snake represents
Jesus – Jesus gave us His life to save us from the sin.
5. God said that the said of the woman will strike at the head of the
snake. How do you think this words of God speak of the salvation of
humankind from sin?
The seed of the woman represents Jesus Christ. He will be sent by God to
save us from our sin and to give the gift of salvation.

Integrating God’s Message in my life


 In the beginning we have seen how did God work in a life of a woman,
Sister Naty. She allowed God a to work in her. Her life is full of
inspiration and love as expressed in her living service to God’s
Community, the Church.
 Do you believe that you can be also be full of inspiration and love
without relying on the opposite sex? (TQs)
 Our life can be full of inspiration and love too. If we allow God to work
on us.
 God has been working all along in the life of his people because he wants

them to be united with Him.
 God never leaves his people because he is a faithful God.
 God’s mercy and fidelity is shown clearly in the Old Testament, beginnig
from the story of the first man and woman and the prophets/

The Promise of Salvation


 The story of Creation in the book of Genesis showcase the almighty
power of God.
 God’s power is:
o Loving
o Give humans what they need
o Cares for them
o Helps them achieve their full potential

 God created humans out of love. There are proofs in the account of
creation that will show this love.
1. He created the first man and woman in his image and like ness.
2. He gave them the power to think, to decide and to love.
3. He also placed them in the beautiful Garden of Eden.
 When he was disobeyed by the man and woman he punished them Yet at
the same time he showed them mercy.
 Gen. 3:15 expressed that God is loving and merciful and this love and
mercy shall experience by the coming generations who will bear the
consequence of the sins they committed
 In the passage Gad promised a Savior He will establish a feud between
the serpent- which is the devil and woman referring to Mary. Jesus is the
seed of Mary that will be curshing the head of the devil signifying the
defeat of sin that the devil brought to the world.

God is faithful to His Promise


 God never forgets his promises.

 Moses obeyed God and was sent to talk to the pharaoh
 But the Pharaoh did not listen to Moses so God send plagues to punish
the Egyptians.
 The succeeding events in the life of the Israel show God almighty power
to save them.
 He made them cross the Red Sea amidst the Egyptians who are pursuing
them.
 When they grow hungry in the wilderness He feed them.
 The greatest sign of the love of God to the Israelite is in a form of
covenant.
 With Moses as the mediator He invited the Israelites to be his people.
 He would protect his people, the Israel as long as they would worship
him.
 The terms of the Covenet are the Ten Commandments.
 The Israelites gladly accepted God’s invitation. But they two are too
stubborn to keep their promise to God.
 They would test God by falling to sin, they worship idols and many sinful
actions. But God never cease of forgiving them and saving them.
 They were subjected to conquerors but God save them.
 God sent messengers in a form of the prophets reminding them of God’s
Covenant with them.
 They would ask for a king, god gave them Saul as their King but even
him is unfaithful. Then God make David as King of Israel.

The New Covenant of Love


 David was the greatest King of Israel. He returned the Ark of the
Covenant to Jerusalem and making it as the center of Jewish worship.
 He composed songs of worship to God called Psalms. He led the Israel to
many victories and make Israel propserous.
 But, David sinned against God, and when prophet Nathan rebuked him,
he repented.

 God promised that the Savior would come from the descendants of
David.
 Solomon is the son of David, he too is a great King God bestowed on him
wisdom. He built he temple of Jerusalem.
 But he was influenced by his wives who were pagans. By this Solomon
fall and Israel fall to conquerors until they were exile in Babylon.
 Amidst their hardships God sent prophets to give the Israelites hope. One
of them is a young man nmaed Jeremiah.
 He sent this message of God to them; “I will establish a new covenant
with you, one that is not curved in stone but written in your heart.” (Jer.
31:31-32). This new covenant is a covenat f love to be fulfilled by Jesus.

 Present and briefly describe 3 events that show the unfolding of
God’s loving plan of salvation in the Old Testament.

The Promise of Salvation - When the man and woman disobeyed God,
He punished them and still showed them mercy and a proof that He loves
them. God also promise that He will sent a savior which is Jesus Christ to
save the people from sin.
God is Faithful to His Promise- God called a righteous man by the name
of Abraham. Abraham gave God his unconditional obedience even if
God's commands were very difficult. The obedience and fidelity of
Abraham was rewarded by God. God promised that He will give him
land where food grows in abundance and that he will be the father of a
multitude of nations.

The New Covenant of Love
- David was the greatest king of Israel but he also sinned against God but
God promised that the Savior will be his descendant.- Solomon, the son
of David, succeeded him and was gifted by God with wisdom. He also
commit sins that caused his downfall. But through prophet Jeremiah, God
sent his message to them and says “I will establish a new covenant with
you, one that is not carved in stone but written in your heart” and this
new covenant of love will be fulfilled by Jesus.
 God’s fidelity is constant as seen in the story of His peopl. How ill
you show that you are a faithful.
