1. Scope
 The scope of this Method Statement is to describe how waterproofing works for wet areas will
take place on site - in a way that complies with the project specifications and requirements-,
approved materials, arrangements and step by step activities to carry out the application of
conventional Water Proofing Works.

4. RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Manager:
1. Determines the various responsibilities and assigned site staff accordingly for accomplishing the
project and controls the team towards efficient and effective utilization of the company’s resources
but not limited to manpower availability, machineries, equipment, and plants and related.
2. Assist PsM for regular checking of the job for review, BOQ, bar chart, government requirements,
staffing and all aspects within the department’s productivity and intimate to the management for
information and assistance.
3. Assist PsM for to obtain and secures building permits, demarcation, fencing and other pertinent
documents from concerned government and private offices for every new project. Also, to obtain
the completion certificate.
4. Monitors the progress of works and resolve the obstacles, if any.
5. Coordinates and controls subcontract items in an effective manner to achieve the product/process
quality as per the requirements.
6. Coordinates with other department such as but not limited to Engineering, Operations, and
Purchase Departments to ensure smooth flow of the projects.
7. Executes the project within the approved budget and in accordance with the contract specification.
8. Updates the cash flow on monthly basis.
9. Ensures that all QA/QC procedures, safety rules, precautions and procedures are strictly
implemented in all project sites.
10. Ensure mobilization of staff material and all concerned items in coordination with PD.
11. Updates DM with all projects transactions towards, authority requirements, approvals, variations,
cost claims, time extensions, payments, project development etc.
12. Maintains copy of all documents required at job site for Municipality/Consultant inspection, i.e., no
objection certificates from telecommunication, electric and water agencies, etc.), building permit,
etc.

Construction Manager:
1. Ensures all required submittals are made in a timely manner.
2.Ensures that all preparation for work execution is carried out according to contract
specifications/approved shop drawings.
3.Ensures that work progress is carried out according to programmed/project plan and as per
approved method statement.

4.Ensures co-orientation with all the concerned and the implementation of the Consultant’s comments.
5. Ensures that the required plant equipment/tools/material and manpower is available for the timely
execution of work.
6. Controls and makes sure all safety measures have been implemented by the construction team as
specified and as general safety rules.
7. Ensures that all related activities and quality control procedures are practiced and implemented
according to the PQP.
8. Ensures that all drawings (A1 & A3 size) shall be available on site with Project Engineer & Site
Engineer.
9. Should be available/present at the time of work execution and for work progress.
10. Reports to PM.
Site Engineer:
1. Site Engineer is responsible to carry out the work as per the approved shop drawings, method
statements. He is also responsible to ensure adequate equipment for the works are in place prior
to the starting of work.
2. Site Engineer is responsible to ensure work has been done as per the specification and drawings;
inspections are done as per QC procedure and the ITP and offer works for Consultant’s inspection.
3. Site Engineer is responsible to ensure that all Safety precautions are in place, and that all personal
on site are using the required Personal Protective Equipment’s like – Helmet, Gloves, Shoes, and
Coveralls. We will also ensure all relevant permissions are available for the works.
4. Reports to Sr. Project Engineer.
5. Conducts MS/RA training to the workforce.
QA/QC Engineer
1. Ensures work is being carried out as per approved Method Statement, ITP, approved shop drawings
& project specifications.
2. Monitors related works according to requirements of this procedure.
3. Advises Project Engineer/Supervisor of the specific requirements related to work quality and
requirement of Consultant/Client and approvals at different stages as site preparation and setting
out.
4. Shall receive internal inspection form requests from Site Engineer and organizes inspection
requests as per required.
5. Inform Consultant/Client representative by the official inspection request as and when their
presence is required to carry out inspections.

6. Conducts MS training to the project/site engineers.


Safety Officer
1. Ensures safe and sound implementation of all safety procedures and measures specific to this work
procedure.
2. Ensures that all project personnel/site execution team is fully aware of their responsibilities and has
full understanding of the related safety rules and procedures.
3. Should conduct toolbox meeting before the execution of work.
4. Keeps PM, CM and Consultant/CLIENT updated about the adopted safety measures at site and
ensuring their adequacy.
5. Reports to the HSE Manager.
Foreman
1. Continuous coordination and following Project/Site engineer instructions.
2. Controlling disposal of waste material and keeping a good housekeeping to keep good access to
working area.
3. Coordinate with the surveyor to carry out the correct levels.
4. Coordination with site safety officer for maintaining a safe working place and educating site workers
for the required safety instructions.
5. Reports to the Site engineer.

5. METHODOLGY
A- PREPARATION: -

 The surface should be dry enough and remove all dust, dirt, and debris.
 No sharp angles will make smooth skirting between horizontal & vertical surfaces, also between
internal angles.
 Close all openings or voids around sleeves and pipes with mortar.
B- Application: -
 Check the top slab surface cleaning, free from dust debris, grease or oil.
 Curve any internal angles with mortar.
 Surface to be damp before applying insulation (no standing water).
 Apply 1st Coat according to material data sheet.
 Leave first coat to harden (6) hours then apply 2nd coat perpendicular on the first coat.

 Leave second coat to harden as per material data sheet.


 24 hours water test to be done for first time.
 After water test passing, start mechanical and plumbing works as per related method statement.
 Clean surface and second water test to be done.

6. Equipment
 Hand tools (shovel, hammer, brush, dry sponge, … etc).
 Mechanical mixer.
 Gloves

7. Health and Safety


• All employees shall be provided with complete personal protection equipment PPE.
• All employees shall attend Safety Induction and training Course to identify all Hazards
associated with this work.
• All workers shall be provided with proper tools and equipment to execute the work
safely.
• Hard Barriers and hazard tape shall be installed where required.
• Safety signs shall be displayed where required.
• MSDS (material safety data sheet) shall be displayed at work location as appropriate.

8. Quality Control Procedure

8.1 General

• Each activity should be performed by the assigned employee within the organization
chart.
• All Materials and equipment used in the activities should be approved, inspected, and
tested prior to usage.
• Work procedure should follow this method statement and preparatory technical meeting.
• All activities steps should follow the ITP.

8.2 Procedure:

• The site engineer to prepare the Inspection Request (IR) for the area ready for
inspection and submitted to the QC Dept. Document Controller (QCDC).

• The QCDC to give an ID No. to the IR and handed to the QC engineer (QCE).
• The QCE to inspect the readiness, completeness and accuracy of the works and
accordingly he signs the IR and submit it to the CS through the QCDC who will include it
in the Daily Inspection Schedule submitted to the CS.
• In case of rejection, a copy of the commented IR to be forwarded to the construction
department to proceed with the comments and resubmit upon completion.
• At the time of final inspection as requested by the construction department, the QCE will
inspect the works and sign off the relevant section in the IR and submit it to the consultant
through the QCDC for his inspection.
• The CS rep. will inspect and give his comments (accept/reject) and hand it to the QCE
for filing in case of acceptance or resubmit in case of rejection.
• In case of rejection, a copy of the commented IR to be forwarded to the construction
department to proceed with the comments and resubmit upon completion.
• The QC DC will file the IR until the works are ready for final inspection.
