Superintendent Great Valley is a comprehensive public high school with an enrollment of 1,445 students in
grades 9 through 12. The professional staff numbers 114 and is fully accredited. Great
Dr. Heidi Capetola Valley High School has been recognized by the United States Department of Education for
Principal “Excellence in Education.” The district maintains academic partnerships that include the
Desmond Project, Sports Marketing, and the Danish Exchange Program.

CURRICULUM AND ADVANCED PROGRAMS
Great Valley High School offers students an extensive and diverse curriculum featuring a wealth of elective courses.
The average class size is 28 students. All Great Valley students are required to successfully complete:

• Four years of English


• Three years of Math, Science and Social Studies
• Two Health courses, six semesters of Physical Education, plus a distribution requirement in humanities and elective areas

Honors and AP courses are designed to offer a greater breadth and depth of learning experiences and are considered to be
substantially more difficult than others in the curriculum. In recognition of the high level of achievement expected, grades in
these courses are given a weighted factor of .50 for AP and .25 for Honors, in addition to the grade points indicated in the “Letter
Grade Conversion Scale” found on page 1. For example, a “B” in an Honors class would receive a quality point value of 3.25 in
the GPA calculation, and a “B” in an AP class would receive a quality point value of 3.50 in the GPA calculation.

Compiled at the end of grade 11 Valley School District will provide colleges with a detailed grade

When requested by a student, parent, or college, class rank will


be reported in deciles. If a student falls in the top 5%, that fact
