The keyboard is one of the most commonly used input devices. It is used to input data and
instructions to a computer by pressing the keys on the keyboard. It translates the types letters,
numbers, characters, and other special symbols into machine readable form. A typical
computer keyboard is very similar to a typewriter.
Finger Position
In learning how to type, your hands must be placed on the keyboard so that you can
press any of the keys without looking down on the keyboard. This will keep your eyes focused
on the copy you are typing and will enable you to type with speed and accuracy. Memorize the
location of each key on the keyboard. As you strike each key and learn proper finger position,
you will soon develop a smooth rhythm while typing.
