or investigating something to find out more about it.
Investigation- it is a proper inquiry or efficient study
Immersion- it is the process of learning a skill by using nothing else but that skill. It is the fact of

problem.

Copy the graphic organizer and write your answer in a separate sheet of paper.

Importance of
Research in our
Daily life

Research provides the best solution to some of the world problems and also enhance the
knowledge of the researchers. It can give explanations to certain questions stated in the research
problem. Through the explanations, it serves as a tool for building knowledge and for facilitating
new learning.
Research also introduces new ideas, helps the researchers identify problems and appropriate
solutions in new ways and provide new framework to guide thinking and action. It informs action,
proves a theory and contributes to develop knowledge in a field or study. Therefore, it understands
various issues and increases public awareness.
The following shall help you recall some significant details relevant to your previous
understanding about the types of research namely: qualitative and quantitative research.
Quantitative Qualitative
- More respondents - Less participants
- Opinions, perceptions - Experiences
- Short contact time - Longer contact time
- Survey questionnaire - Interview
- More numbers - More words
- Hypothesis - Assumptions
- Close-ended questions - Open-ended questions
- Distance - Rapport with participants
- Tables, graphs - Narratives, paragraphs
- Scale, ranking - Themes, concepts
- Less writing - More writing
Answer the questions like: Answers the questions like:
- what’s the highest, lowest (level) - How the experience is/was
- what’s the extent - Problems encountered
- how many - Inspiration/motivation/realization
- how often
- how much

Examples of Qualitative and Quantitative questions:

Quantitative:
1. Can you handle your roles being a parent and a college student at the same time
2. Would you encourage pother parents to continue their studies?
Qualitative:
1. What advice would you give to other working parents who are continuing their college studies?
2. What are the skills or abilities you have been developed as you face the new normal? Do you
find such skills helpful in your career? Why? How did it affect the teaching and learning process?

A topic is a research focus that gives over-all direction to any form of research.
Moore (2009), a contributor to articles offers five (5) things worth considering when doing a
research work.
1. Never choose a topic that is out of personal interest
2. Never use needless words
3. Keep thoughts intact
4. Don’t let failure distract you
5. Always consult the opinion of other people.

Selecting a Topic
1. Brainstorm ideas
2. Choose a topic that will enable you to read and understand the literature
3. Ensure that the topic is manageable, and that material is available.
4. Make a list of key words.
5. Be Flexible
6. Define your topic as a focused research question
7. Research and read more about your topic
8. Formulate a thesis statement
Here are some examples of possible basis of issues applicable for senior high school learners.
These are useful in crafting a research agenda that will lead in the writing of the title and research
problem.
Topic/Issue Causes Effects Intervention/Projects/Programs
Community - improper waste - widespread - Clean and Green Project -
Waste Problem disposal - waste disposal - Health and Sanitation Programs
inconsistent health problem
implementation of
community waste
program/ project

If you already identified the possible topic in the agenda of your research study, you may think of
the identity of your research either a qualitative or quantitative research then decide on the
methodology by not disregarding the importance of your research to others, to the community, to
the society or to the nation as well.
Observe the given example as a guide about the mentioned concerns in your research agenda.
