THE PRACTICE OF TEACHING READING AND WRITING FOR YOUNG LEARNER

Class : IV/1

Date : June 21st 2024

Lesson : English lesson

Topic : Animals

Objectives : 1. Students are able to recognize and pronounce the name of the animal

2. Students are able to understand the meaning of vocabulary and write the

vocabularies learned

3. Increase students’ English knowledge

Method : Communicative Language Learning

Media : Flashcard, Poster, worksheet, Whiteboard, Marker

Time : 45 Minutes
Steps Procedures Member Time
Introduction  Teacher greets the students and Ghania 5 minutes
asks them to pray together
before the learning started.
 Teacher checks the students’
attendance.
 The teacher provides a song
called “Good morning song” as
a warm-up activity to stimulate
students be active and well
participated in learning activity.
 Teacher discusses about what
the students’ favorite animal.
 Teacher tells the students about
the learning topic “Animals”
that will be discussed.

Activities Activity 1 Ghania 10 minutes


 Teacher shows the flashcards
and ask the students to guess the
name and the sound of the
animals.
 Teacher pronounce the name of
the animals in the flashcards
and then followed by the
students.
 Teacher writes the vocabularies
about animals on the whiteboard
and asks the students to write
the vocabularies.

Activity 2 (Individual activity) Hilal 10 minutes


 Teacher gives the worksheet to
each students which consist
animal pictures and blank boxes
 Students write the name of the
animal in the worksheet.

Activity 3 (Group work) Hilal 15 minutes


 Teacher divides students into
groups.
 Teacher plays the sound of
animal and students have to
write the answer.
 Teacher asks each groups of the
students to tell their answer and
evaluate their writing.

Closing  Teacher asks the students to Nadilla 5 minutes


pronounce the name of the
animal that has been studied
together. After that, teacher
thanks and gives appreciation to
the students for their
participation.
 Teacher closes the lesson.
Assessment
Students are asked to draw their favorite animal at home and make a simple sentence of it
and they have to collect their homework in the next meeting.
