Program: Data analytics (M.S)
The all-encompassing benefits of technology, which is based on innovation and computing,
are now evident in almost every field. The origination of cloud computing, the Increase of
mobile digital business on smartphones, and usage of social networks are instances of
Innovation and digitization. As digitalization is transforming the world we enfold the
universality of technology in every device we use. I have always been tantalized by this
ubiquitous of data reaching into our lives as Information impacts a few things which include
our movement decisions, instructive undertakings, and purchasing behaviours. The current
day is supervised by crude and crucial Data. Data has always been a subject of my interest.
My longing to hold forth my knowledge and passion to the easiness that Data
analytics has assisted in business, people’s life and the capability to simplify complex tasks
inspired me to take up Data analytics for my graduate studies. Data analytics has granted
various approaches to strengthen my analytical and accurate thinking allowing me to prospect
a wide range of collaborative opportunities in the Industry. My inherent enthusiasm to grind
away complex industry problems, growing provocations that require immediate solutions and
enhancing these solutions up to precision, thereby furnishing service to society fascinates me
to pursue my search for learning and research in the field of Data analytics.
As a curious student, I have excelled in academics right from my school days.
Mathematics and Sciences interested me for their intricacies right from my schooling days.
Naturally, I took up Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as my major subjects at the pre-
university level, after completing my schooling with top grade point 9.4 CGPA. These
subjects look challenging to me which always made me stand out from the crowd as an
outstanding student securing a percentage 86.5 in the pre-university board examination.
As an outcome of my research, while seeking admission into bachelor, I was
convinced that Electronics & Communication is a diverse field that would provide me with
extensive exposure to both hardware and software, as well as the opportunity to research,
design, develop, and test electronic equipment used in various communication systems. The
incentive behind this decision led me to choose a Bachelor of Electronics and
Communication programme for my undergraduate studies. During the course curriculum, I
was able to acquire a solid understanding of fundamental and high-tech concepts in
Electronics and Communications, which led me to realize that software development is as
important as hardware development. This, in conjunction with practical courses on Computer
Networks, C language, JAVA language, Analog and Digital Electronics, Digital Signal
Processing, Digital Logic Design, Embedded System Design, Microwave Engineering,
Electronic Devices and Circuits, Signals and Systems and other such globally relevant
concepts in Electronic Communications.
My academic pursuits have enriched my conceptual knowledge, it's through college
projects that I even have achieved an in-depth understanding of specialised areas. My
research exploration initiated during under graduation itself, whilst attempting a few projects.
During the sixth semester as a part of the Mini project, I along with my team of 3 worked on
the Project “CURRENCY COUNTING MACHINE USING TCS3200”. The primary
objective of the project is to create a machine that can count money using the colour detection
found on the currency note. The colour of the cash can be determined using the TCS3200
colour sensor. I lead my team of three students during my major group project on “VOICE
COMMAND ROBOT”, The goal is to create an independent voice-controlled robot. This is
helpful in hospitals, businesses, and other settings since it obeys instructions from humans.
During my fifth semester I was given the chance to work as an intern for a firm
called ZARC under the web development portfolio, where I created their website with new
features, during this period I started developing interest in software related subjects. After
completion of my internship I started learning the software related subjects and courses like
Java, Html, CSS.
During my sixth semester I, along with a team of five, had the opportunity to take
part in a national hackathon called the “SMART INDIA HACKATHON”. We were given a
problem statement by the DRDO in the hardware edition under the robotics and drone
domain, and we built the drone in response to the problem statement as well as building it
autonomously.
In accordance with the new educational strategy adopted by the central
government, our college has created a programme that offers both minors and honours. I
studied Data analytics as a minor, which piqued my interest in the field. I'm interested in
learning more about it in depth.
Concurrently, active participation in a wide range of extracurricular activities has
ensured the all-round development of my personality. I am also a member of IETE Students
forum ‘THE INSTITUTION OF ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION
ENGINEERS’. I am an active member of various events in college technical fest like
Workshops, Event management which helped me understand how to manage time and
people. Being a member of several clubs of our college ensured me with various activities
that provide an opportunity to develop teamwork, leadership, communication, and
organization skills. With an ardent interest in electronics as an ECE student I attended
workshop on ‘PCB DESIGN’ conducted by IETE. As a part of the ROBOTICS club, we ran
a workshop on drones where participants built their own drones from the ground up and
learned about drone technology. My interest, passion, dedication in every piece of work I
perform, enabled me to acquire significant knowledge on several aspects of computer and
technology, as well as leading me through a successful educational career. I think pursuing
my graduate studies will help develop my resolve to gather expertise in my chosen field of
interest. I think a Master’s program in Data analytics will offer me the requisite knowledge in
my field, ensuring that I can actually contribute in a better way to the organization I
eventually start working with.
The MS program in Data analytics offered by the UNIVERSITY OF
BRIDGEPORT will undoubtedly provide me with the equitable knowledge, skills, and
experience to pursue my dream and exploit the opportunities to the fullest extent. The
program is a well-defined mix of concepts related to Data analytics, Statistics, Algorithms of
which form the mandatory core courses. In addition to these, students are also offered to
select focus area options as per their academic interests and career aspirations. There is a lot
of research going on at the university. I hope to contribute handsomely in both academic and
non-academic activities as part of your vibrant student community if given the opportunity to
be a part of your revered university. I am confident that I will build skills in required fields of
interest which will enable me to take up roles as Data Engineer, Data Scientist etc in
organizations like Microsoft, Intel, Google or other large scale or small organizations
wherein I can make a significant contribution. Thus, my decision to pursue my graduate
degree in Data analytics, which includes subjects I want to study, seems to be the most
logical expansion of my academic career.
