Reading Passage

The Tree
Emma walked into the woods. Tall trees lined the path. Birds sang in
the tops of the trees. It was dark in the woods. Not much sunlight
came through the leafy tree branches. Emma thought about turning
back.

She walked on. The path ended in front of a very big tree. There was a
door in the tree trunk. Emma slowly opened the door. She stepped
inside. Emma gasped. She was in a big room. The floor and walls
looked like they were made of glass. There was a big crystal in the
middle of the room. It glowed with bright light.

Tiny balls of light shone in the air. One of the balls of light flew toward
Emma. When it got closer, she saw that it was a fairy. “Good for you,
Emma,” said the fairy. “You have found our home.”
