People as Media

Any person who is exposed to media messages can also serve as a conduit of information and an
influencer of ideas. You can be considered people as media when you yourselves are well-oriented to media
sources and messages when you are able to provide information as accurate and reliable as possible. People as
media highly expected to be responsible disseminators of information.
For detailed explanation, refer to your book, Media and Information Literacy on pages 131-138.

Directions: Find a partner for this activity. With your partner, complete the table with as many
people in media as you can think of, based on the category stated in the column heading. Think of
professions or careers that each of the media forms offers.

LESSON 2:
Text Information and Media

Two of the most important information revolutions in the history of communication and media are the
writing and printing of text. Because of the innovations of the phonetic alphabet and the printing system, human
civilization is able to store and pass knowledge. This is why in the early years of your life; you are taught how
to write and how to share your thoughts in written form.
For a detailed explanation, refer to your book, Media and Information Literacy, on pages 141-145.

Text Information and Media

These days, texts are generated using word processing technology. A word processor is any computer
software used to “produces, edit, and format mainly text-based documents [such as] writing letters, memos,
reports, creating letterheads, producing labels, etc.”

For a detailed explanation, refer to your book, Media and Information Literacy, on pages 146-150.

Summary
People as Media – people serving as the channel of information.
People in Media – media workers who are responsible for
bringing you the information you need.
Social Media – is a catch-all term for a variety of Internet
z applications that allows users to create content and interact with
each other.
Text – According to Rouse (2015), a text is any “human-readable
sequence of characters” that can form intelligible words.

My Lesson Takeaway
