CHAPTER III
This chapter discusses the research design, participants,
instrumentation, data gathering procedure, and data analysis.

RESEARCH DESIGN
This study utilized a quantitative research design that employed a
questionnaire to offer enhanced context for the research data, aiding in
understanding things from the perspective of respondents. It functioned as a
means for collecting data and information regarding the components
supporting Time Management Skills of Grade 10 Students in SPCHIS. The
quantitative research method centered on collecting statistics or the number of
respondents to comprehend the predominant factors influencing events and
circumstances, employing questions to gather data concerning the study's
current status.

Quantitative research design involves gathering data through structured

tools like surveys, polls, and questionnaires. Quantitative data comprises
responses that can be quantified and measured using numerical values.

Likewise, to get the required data, this study used a survey approach.
According to Cleland JA (2017), gaining more insight and understanding
could be facilitated by exploring the commonplace aspects of specific social
phenomena and asking relevant questions as they arose. Cleland added that
adopting this strategy did not mean doing away with frameworks or plans.
Strategic planning, design, and implementation for data gathering and analysis
were key to quantitative research approaches. This included describing the
methodological elements, such as design, methodologies, and analysis, as well
as the aims and objectives and the rationale for the study.

Respondent of the Study

The participants of the study were Grade 10 Students at San Pablo City
Integrated High School. A total of 50 students were intended to take part in the
study, but it was conducted with 47 students, consisting of 28 females and 20
males. These students possessed sufficient knowledge to address the issues
presented in the study. Grade 10 Students served as the primary subjects of the
research, showcasing varying levels of time management skills that impacted
their academic performance. This issue was identified as a central focus of the
research.

The researchers chose the grade 10 students as our subjects because we

were confident that this demographic might encounter challenges with time
management, particularly given their imminent graduation. The significance of
this choice extended beyond research; it served as a valuable lesson for the
grade 10 students themselves. By participating in the study, they gained insight
into the importance of effective time management skills in enhancing academic
performance. This firsthand experience not only provided them with practical
knowledge but also empowered them to make informed decisions regarding
their time management practices. Thus, the study not only contributed to our
understanding of time management dynamics but also imparted valuable
lessons to the grade 10 students, preparing them for academic success and
beyond.

CONCLUSION
The impact of lack of time management on students' academic
performance is significant and multifaceted. Research consistently shows that
poor time management leads to increased stress, decreased productivity, and
lower academic achievement. Students who struggle to manage their time
effectively often experience higher levels of anxiety and procrastination, which
can result in missed deadlines, incomplete assignments, and lower grades.

Furthermore, the inability to prioritize tasks and allocate sufficient time

for studying can lead to inadequate preparation for exams and assessments.
This can ultimately affect students' understanding of course material and
retention of knowledge. Over time, chronic poor time management habits can
negatively impact overall academic progress and hinder long-term educational
and career goals.

Additionally, Having Time Management Skills as a student helped to

improve academic performance and enhanced the academic experience for
students. It also may have helped improve their ability and ability to develop
their own personal skills.

In conclusion, addressing time management skills is essential for

improving students' academic performance and overall well-being.
Implementing strategies such as setting realistic goals, creating schedules,
avoiding distractions, and seeking support when needed can help students
develop effective time management habits and succeed academically.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Improving time management skills could significantly enhance
productivity and alleviate stress. Consider the following suggestions to refine
your time management abilities:

Start by establishing clear goals. In the past, setting distinct, attainable

goals for each day, week, and month has proven effective. This approach
fosters concentration on essential tasks. Prioritize tasks by organizing a daily
to-do list and ranking them according to their urgency and deadlines.
Concentrate on completing high-priority tasks first. Utilize a planner or digital
calendar to record your schedule and tasks, enabling you to monitor
commitments and deadlines. Employ reminders to stay on track. Divide tasks
into smaller steps to manage large projects more effectively. Breaking them
down into more manageable tasks facilitates steady progress. Avoid
multitasking, as it can diminish productivity. Instead, focus on one task at a
time to ensure quality work and expedite completion. Minimize distractions by
identifying common distractions and setting specific times to address them.
Consider using tools like website blockers or apps to limit distractions.
Delegate tasks when possible to free up time for more critical responsibilities.
Set boundaries and learn to say no to tasks or commitments that do not align
with your goals or priorities.

Students - Students who struggled with time management often missed

deadlines, resulting in lower academic performance and heightened anxiety. To
address this, schools implemented programs that emphasized organizational
skills, breaking down assignments into smaller tasks, and using digital tools to
track progress.

Teachers - Teachers, recognizing the need for structured support, have

offered flexible office hours and clearer assignment guidelines, allowing
students to better plan their work.

Parent - Parents played a crucial role by creating a structured

environment at home, ensuring consistent routines, and maintaining open
communication with teachers. This home support helped students establish
better study habits and prioritize their tasks effectively. Teachers and parents
who worked collaboratively found that students managed their time more
effectively and demonstrated improved academic outcomes.

Future Researchers - For future researchers, the focus shifted towards

exploring the most effective time management techniques across different
cultures and age groups. Studies that assessed the impact of technology on time
management helped identify the right balance between useful tools and
potential distractions. Longitudinal research provided insights into how early
training in time management could positively impact long-term success.
Overall, these collaborative efforts among students, teachers, and parents,
along with ongoing research, have improved the understanding and application
of time management in education.

Finally, reflect on your accomplishments at the end of each day and

identify areas for improvement. Adjust your strategies as needed to optimize
your time management skills. Remember, improving time management is a
continuous process that requires practice and patience. Start implementing
these recommendations gradually and find what works best for you.
