Safety Precautions in handling Home security Equipment
1. Please read the user manual carefully to ensure that you can use the device
correctly and safely.
2. The device should be operated only from the type of power source indicated
on the marking label. The voltage of the power must be verified before using.
If not in use for a long time, pull out the plug from the socket.
3. Do not install the device near any heat sources such as radiators, heat
registers, stoves or other device that produce heat.
4. Do not install the device near water. Clean only with a dry cloth.
5. Do not block any ventilation openings, ensure well ventilation around the
machine.
6. Do not power off the DVR at normal recording condition! The correct
operation to shut off DVR is to stop recording firstly, and then select “shut-
down” button at the right of the menu bar to exit, and finally to cut off the
power.
7. The machine is indoor using equipment. Do not expose the machine in rain
or moist environment. In case any solid or liquid get into the machine’s case,
please cut off the power supply immediately, and ask for qualified
technicians to check the machine before restart.
8. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. No any parts repaired by
yourself without technical aid or approval.
9. When cleaning is necessary, shutdown the system and unplug the unit from
the power source before uncovering the top cover. Do not use liquid
cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
10. Always shut down the system prior connecting or disconnecting
accessories, with the exception of USB devices.
11. Avoid installing the camera close to sources of powerful electromagnetic
radiation, such as radio or TV transmitter or close to fluorescent lamps or
object reflecting light, or under unstable light sources, which may cause
flickering.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION
8
TOOLS USED IN SERVICING Home Security Equipment: 8 channel CCTV
A. Driving tools
1. Screwdriversare hand tools specifically designed to insert and
tighten, or to loosen and remove screws.
a. Slotted Screwdriver – used to drive or fasten negative slotted
screws.
B. Splicing tools
1. Pliers are used for holding and splicing wires needed in the circuit.
a. Long Nose – is used for holding, bending, and stretching the
lead of electronic component or connecting wires.
9
3. A crimping tool from Grainger can bend, cut, strip and crimp
insulated wiring in a snap.
C. Cutting Tools
1. Utility Knife – is a common tool used in cutting various trades and
crafts for a variety of purposes.
2. Metal Hacksaw
is used for cutting metals. Some have pistol Grips which keep the
hacksaw firm and easy to grip. The small hand-held hacksaws
consist of a metal arch with a handle that fits around a narrow, rigid
blade.
D. Boring Tools
1. 12V Mini-Drill – is used to bore or drill holes in the printed circuit
board (PCB) and plastic with sizes from 1/32” – 1/16”.
10
E. Soldering tools
1. Soldering Iron – is a device for applying heat to melt solder in
attaching two metal parts. A soldering iron is composed of a heated
metal tip and an insulated handle.
F. Auxiliary tools
1. Magnifying Glass – is a convex lens which is used to produce a
magnified image of an object.
2. Paint Brush – made of bristles set in handle, use for cleaning dirty
parts of a circuit or an object.
G. Measuring tool
1. PULL PUSH RULE is used in geometry, technical drawing and
engineering/ building to measure long distances.
11
H. Bending Tool
1. PIPE BENDER A metal tool that bends metal pipes needed for
wiring/electrical installation.
2. Testing equipment
a.Cable Tester - is an electronic device used to verify the electrical
connections in a cable or other wired assembly. Generally a cable
tester consists of: A source of electric current, A volt meter, A
switching matrix used to connect the current source and the
voltmeter to all of the contact points in a cable.
12
3. CCTV equipment
a. A digital video recorder (DVR), sometimes referred to by the
merchandising term personal video recorder (PVR), is a consumer
electronics device or application software that records video in a
digital format to a disk drive, USB flash drive, SD memory card,
SSD or other local or networked mass storage device.
13
e. Video Balun - Whereas co-ax cables are classed as an
“unbalanced” mode of transmission, CAT5 twisted pair is known
as a balanced mode. In this balanced mode, the two cores
carrying the video signal are balanced to a particular reference
point and the cable twists enable a uniform rejection of the
interference, effectively cancelling it out. To produce a balanced
signal BALUNs are used, standing for BALanced to UNbalanced.
14
an inner conductor surrounded by a tubular insulating layer, surrounded
by a tubular conducting shield. Many coaxial cables also have an
insulating outer sheath or jacket.
4. RG59 Siamese cable allows installers to run both the video and
power to security cameras using a RG-59 Siamese Coax Cable for
CCTV Camera Installation.
15
B. Materials Connectors
16
C. Materials Electrical Conduit
PLASTIC PIPIES
D. Materials Consumables
1. Soldering lead - It is a fusible metal alloy used to create a permanent bond
between metal workpieces.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION
All home security systems work on the same basic principle of securing entry
points, like doors and windows, as well as interior space containing valuables
like art, computers, guns, and coin collections. Regardless of the size of your
home, or the number of doors and windows or interior rooms a homeowner
decides to protect, the only real difference is in the number of security
components deployed throughout the home and monitored by the control
panel. https://www.safewise.com/home-security-faq/how-do-security-systems-work/
VIDEO OUT
MAIN MONITOR (BNC/VGA)
BNC and VGA output connectors are offered for
connecting to a main monitor. The main monitor
displays live image and playback recorded
video in either full-screen or split –window
format. VGA output connector is optional.
22
POWER JACK
The DVR has free voltage DC power connection
jack. Please connect the power adapter shipped
with the unit.
VIDEO IN
A group of BNC connectors is offered for video
input streams from installed cameras. The
number of connectors is equal to the number of
channels.

Step1: Activate remote controller to control DVR: enable DVR: turn the
IR sensor of the remote controller to the IR receiver that on the front
panel, press the number key 8 twice, then input device ID (Range from:
0-65535; the default device ID is 0.) with other digital number: 0-9, after
that, press ENTER button to confirm.
Step2: User can check the device ID by enter into System configurationBasic
configurationdevice ID. User also can set other DVRs with the same device ID. For
more convenient to operate, we don’t recommend user to set the device ID too long.
Step3: Cancel controller to control DVR: turn the IR sensor of the remote controller to
the IR receiver that on the front panel, press the number key 8 twice, then input the
device ID that needs to be cancelled from controlling, press ENTER button to confirm.
After that, the DVR will not be controlled by remote controller.
