• The line graph compares how much margarine, low fat and reduced spreads, and butter were
consumed between 1981 and 2007.

• Overall, the consumptions of all three kinds of spreads experienced significant fluctuations and
general falls over the period given. Moreover, although (1) starting from the lowest base and
being used much later than the other two, low fat and reduced spreads (2) ranked first in
consumption in 2007.

• In 1981, there was (3) a striking difference in how many grams of margarine and butter were
consumed, with the figures for margarine and butter respectively standing at 140 and 90 grams.
Whereas the consumption of butter slightly increased and then dramatically dropped from 1981
to 1991, that of margarine showed an opposite pattern as it went down first and then up until (4)
the two lines crossed each other at 100 grams in 1991. (5) There was a steady decrease in the
amount of butter used to 50 grams in 2007.

• Only until 1996 were low fat and reduced spreads eaten, with the figure standing at 10 grams.
Over the next 5 years, the figure (7) reached a high of over 80 grams in 2001. However, (8) the
final years saw a slight drop in the consumption of low fat and reduced spreads to over 70 grams
in 2007.

• The line chart indicates the sales of five different kinds of jam from 2009 to 2014. Overall, it can
be seen that there was an upward trend in the sales of all types of jam except for plum during
the given years. In addition, strawberry remained the most popular kind with the highest figure in
most of the period.

• Starting at 3.2 million units in 2009, the sales of strawberry jam quickly increased and reached a
peak of 7 million at the end of the period. Similarly, the figure for raspberry witnessed the same
pattern in which its sales grew considerably and stood at 5.5 million in 2014. The two lines
crossed each other in 2012 but as we can see, strawberry jam once again overtook raspberry one
to become the most sold.

• Although starting from the lowest base, the sales of grape jam sold went up considerably and
only until 2011 did the figures rank third, at 2.2 million. Moving on, 2.5 million units of plum were
sold in 2009. However, there was a striking difference between the figure for grapes and this
number as it gradually dropped throughout the period and finally, no unit was recorded in 2014.
Regarding cherry, its sales saw a fluctuation around 2 million in the first four years. Then, the
figure reached a high of 3 million units sold before dropping to 2.5 million in 2014.
