Introduction

Phonics Monster ‐ Book 1 offers an introduction to the letters of the alphabet.

Each letter is presented with sample words and sentences in which the target letter is
highlighted. Then, on the following page, there is a tracing exercise to practice writing
the letters.
With the tracing exercises, students should trace every letter that they have already
learned. In this way, they should be comfortable writing all of the letters by the time
they finish the book.
Also included are several review exercises that reinforce listening, reading, and
writing skills.
At the back of the book, there is an additional reading section where students can
practice “putting the letters together” to make short words. After finishing this
section, students will be prepared to begin Phonics Monster Book 2 – Short Vowels,
which picks up where Book 1 leaves off.
