t-test

1. In 2010, the average age of minors who committed crimes in the Province of Albay was 15.78
years old. A study conducted last January 2022 on crimes committed revealed the following
ages on minors involved. Is there a reason to believe that minors involved in crime nowadays
are getting younger. Assume the population to be normal and use .01 level of significance to
test the hypothesis

2. Before the professor in Statistics started his lecture on t-test, he gave a pre-test to assess the
knowledge of his students on the said topic. After the lecture, he then gave the post-test. The
following data represents the pre-test and post test scores of the students. Assume the
populations to be approximately normal with equal variances.

a. Males performed better than females in the pre-test and in the post-test in Statistics
b. The lecture significantly improved the knowledge of male and of female students about
t-test
