To open a Power query editor.


Go to Home tab then,
Click on Transform data

1. Remove/ Delete Columns

After opening Power query editor.


Click on any column, then
In the Home tab, see Manage column
options.

You see two options :


If you click on Remove columns
It will remove the column, on which your
mouse is clicked

If you click on Choose Columns


A list will pop up...

Choose the
columns you
want to keep
and then click
OK.

Remember:
Unselected
columns will be
deleted.

2. First row as header

While importing data, if your column


names are coming correctly. You can
promote the first row as header.

In the Home tab, under transform section


click on Use First Row as Header

3. Duplicate and Rename

To duplicate the column


Right click on the column

Then click on Duplicate column

New column will be created,


Double click on column header
Now you can edit the column name

4. Filtering and sorting

To filter or sort the column,


click on little drop down near column
header.

Filter pane will open,


Using which you can filter
the value also sort the column.

5. Combine two tables

To combine tables you need to have one


column that is same in both the tables.
Go on any one table, then
Go to Home tab

Go to Combine options
Then under Merge,
Click on Merge Queries as New*

*This create the combines table as new and don’t affect the
existing tables

In the Merge pane,


Select the first table,
then click on a column that is same
between two tables.

Now select the second table and click on


the column that is same between both the
tables.

You also have option on how you want to


join the tables.
We are using Left outer join.
Then click on OK

New joined table will be created.


Expand the column to see the new
columns.

It will look like this,


You can also rename the table.

6. Data Preview

Go to View tab,
Then select these options...

Select these options...

Swipe Left

These options will give you information


about the data. Which includes:
Column statistics
Distinct, Unique values
Data type etc.
