geometric low poly effects out of any image.
The result contains easy to edit layers with layers styles intact so that you can
customize the effect.

Package contents

This package contains: 1 PAT file(Photoshop pattern), 1 ATN file(Photoshop

action) and this PDF Help File.

Installation notes

Step 1
Install the action prerequisite: the PAT is found in the package and should be
installed first.

There are several options to install the files and one of them is going to Edit Menu >
Preset Manager and select the file to Load it.

Step 2
Install the action file: file LOW-POLY-by-PSDDUDE.atn - the main action file of this
package

How to use this action

Open a new document and add your image that can be text, shape, graphics,
photos, etc.
You have to make sure that the layer containing your image is the only layer available,
so if you have for example a background layer please delete it.

Choose one of the 7 actions available and click Play.

Very important: you have to choose the action according to your type of layer. For
example if you have a text layer or a shape layer use the actions that have “(TEXT/SHAPES)”
label. If you have a smart object that contains text and shape use the same action.
Also the TEXT and SHAPE layers must have a plain color so no fancy layer styles,
patterns, etc. In that case use the actions labeled with “(GRAPHICS)” .

See the Customization section to find out how you can obtain the best results.

How to Use

So, open a new document and create a new layer with transparent background. Place
the image/text/shape inside that layer. Choose one of the LOW POLY by PSDDUDE actions
and click Play!

If you receive an error, possible reasons are :

– you didn't load all the files – so load all the files
– you didn't deleted the Background layer

Quick Tutorial for Photos

So, open a new PSD file and add an image, text, shape, text&shape inside a smart
object, graphics, etc. For better results use a big size image, around 1500px or bigger if you
want to see more details.

Let's say you have a photo. Pick the low poly grid lines (PHOTOS) action and click
play.
The actions stops with this message “Paint over the areas that you want to reveal and

resume play!”. Use the Brush Tool to paint over the area that will have the original photo
look. Resume play and wait for the result!

Customization

After the action has ended you get you can make some customization.

You get 3 layers:

– “original” layer that has a layer mask. You can click on the layer mask and use
The Brush Tool with color white (opacity between 1-100%) to hide some of the
low poly effect and reveal the original image.
– “white lines” layer contains a Pattern Overlay that you can increase/reduce the
opacity, you can hide it, you can replace the pattern with the “white-lines”
pattern.
– “LOW POLY by psddude” is a smart object with a Pattern Overlay.
You can increase the Scale of the Pattern to 100% but you have to also
increase the Pattern Overlay of the “white lines” layer.
You can increase/decrease the Opacity of the Pattern Overlay to make the
poly background more/less visible.
You can open the smart object by double clicking on its thumbnail. Inside
you have a Crystallize smart filter; you can change the Cell Size(double click on
the filter name)

If you have any questions on how to achieve the look that you see in the preview
images do not hesitate to ask us.
