Double Integration by Trapezoidal Rule

Example 1: Evaluate the double integral

Using the Trapezoidal rule with Two number of strip for x and y.
Solution:
Given Xo = 2, Xn = 4; Number of strips for X = n = 2
Yo = 0, Yn = 2; Number of strips for Y = m = 2
Xn −Xo 4−2
Width of strip of X = h = = =1
n 2
𝑌n −Yo 2−0
Width of strip of Y = k = = =1
n 2
Thus, Xo = 2 and Yo = 0
X1 = Xo + h = 2 + 1= 3 Y1 = Yo + h = 0 +1= 1
X2 = Xo + 2h = 2 + 2(1) = 4 Y2 = Yo + 2h = 0 + 2(1) = 2
