MOODLE
The Moodle system is an integral tool for TRIUM program delivery as it seamlessly facilitates distance
learning between modules, and will be your online portal for all module logistics and course materials
(except occasional hard copy textbooks). It is also used as a communication tool, allowing for forum
discussions on course topics, case studies and exchange between administrators and faculty.
http://moodle.triumemba.org
Accessing Moodle
You will be able to access Moodle using your triumemba.org email address. Instructions to login with
a new password for Moodle have been sent by email. If you did not receive this, or cannot remember
your password, please visit the Moodle website, and click on the “Forgotten Password” link. Enter your
triumemba.org email address and you will be emailed a new password to login to Moodle.
If you have any problems accessing Moodle, please contact the TRIUM team via
[email protected].
Prior to the launch of Module 1, you will have access to the ‘Program Overview and Preparation’
page on Moodle. This page contains general information relating to the program, including the
curriculum overview, information about resources at the three schools, online account information,
preview information which is released prior to each module, and Moodle FAQs. You will also find
information relating to academic and logistical preparation for each of the modules. This includes,
links to digital readings and a summary of tasks that you must complete in preparation for the
program.
In preparation for each module further course pages will be released on Moodle. These specific course
pages will provide greater insight into the relevant subject, further information about preparation for
the lectures and faculty biographies. Further course pages will be launched on Moodle as you progress
through the program.
Assignments
For each module you will be assigned a combination of pre-module, in-course, and/or post-module
assignments. While some of these assignments may be readings only, those that carry grade
assessments will involve submitting individual or group work.
- Each module will have the assignment details listed within each respective course.
- Additionally, the "Assignments" tab within each course will provide the link to where you
upload your individual or group assignments.
- For group work, only one member of the group needs to submit the assignment.

Setting the time-zone on your Moodle Account
Within your Moodle profile, you’re able to set your time zone. It is very important that this is correct for
meeting Moodle assignment deadlines.
There are two types of time zones listed within this feature:
1. Setting a location based time zone (e.g. if you live in New Jersey, you would select
'America/New York').
2. Setting a specific time zone (e.g. if you live in New Jersey, you would select GMT-5).
These appear to be the same but they are not! It is highly recommended that you choose option 1, as
then any changes within your time zone, such as Daylight Savings, will be automatically calculated
and shown on Moodle. (However, if you choose option 2, then your time zone would ALWAYS stay
at this selected time zone).
You may have to find an appropriate city that is relevant to your location - you can find out what
'Continent/City' time zone you belong to by using the website: http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-
bin/findzone.tzc
Please refer to the Moodle FAQs document on Moodle for a full set of frequently asked questions
and troubleshooting.

PROGRAM FAQS
The modules have been confirmed, but please note that all dates and locations are subject to change.
The modules normally commence early afternoon on the first day, and finish late evening of the final
day, generally after a closing dinner. Further details will be posted in advance of each module.
Classes are held every day (with typically one afternoon off) during the ten day modules (2 and 5) and
every day during Module 6. There are no classes on the middle Sunday of the two week modules
(Modules 1, 3 and 4).
3. When is graduation?
Graduation for the Class of 2021 will take place in London in September 2021. The exact date will be
provided later in the program.
You are fully responsible for all travel arrangements and associated costs. Details of accommodation
responsibilities are covered in questions 6 and 7.
You are responsible for obtaining the necessary documentation (e.g. travel visas) in order to attend
each module. Visa entry requirements vary dramatically depending on your citizenship. Please begin
investigating what your visa needs will be and apply as early as possible. Please note that we are not
visa specialists and we will always refer you to your local embassy or government website for further
information. We will of course help with whatever documentation we can in order to assist you
receiving your visa.
9
There may be special cases for some students, depending on the location of residency and the visa they
are attempting to apply for, where passports may need to be held at local embassies for a long period
(i.e. one month or longer) to complete visa processing. It is important to consider how this may affect
you when planning for each module. You are encouraged to apply for visas well in advance to allow
sufficient time for government processing and possible troubleshooting in the case of unexpected visa
troubles.
6. What accommodation is booked for me at the guest modules (Modules 2 and 5)?
TRIUM provides accommodation at the guest modules as part of your program fee. Accommodation
(single occupancy) at the allocated hotel will be booked and paid for by TRIUM from the night before
the first day of the module to the morning after the final day of the module. Extra nights can be booked
at the hotels at your own cost. You will be advised of the hotel details in advance of the module.
Please note that the accommodation nights covered during Modules 2 and 5 cannot be transferred to
other times, nor can unused nights be reimbursed.
7. What accommodation should I book at the alliance school modules (Modules, 1, 3, 4 and
6)?
The alliance school modules are in city locations and so have many accommodation options, with the
exception of the first week of Module 3 in Paris. This week takes place at the HEC campus in Jouy-
en-Josas, where most students choose to stay at the Best Western Hotel on campus. In advance of each
module, you will usually be given a list of potential options and any particular guidance depending on
the location.
A major part of the TRIUM learning experience is the sharing of knowledge amongst the students. This
includes interaction outside the structured classroom time. Therefore, TRIUM strongly encourages you
to book accommodation in close proximity to the campus at every alliance school module as this will
allow you easy access to your class colleagues and facilitate course group assignments.
Please note it is your responsibility to book and organize payment for your accommodation at the
alliance school modules.
We strongly recommend that you have your own personal laptop computers and/or tablet devices. If
you are using a company laptop, please have your IT department grant you administrator privileges on
the machine. Please note that VPN access to company email or servers may not be possible at some
module locations, due to WIFI security restrictions.
TRIUM has a very strict attendance policy due to the modular system. The attendance policy is detailed
in the relevant section of the Class of 2021 Student Handbook, which will be shared with students
before Module 1.

10. Can my spouse/partner attend a module?
We do not recommend that spouses and partners join students at the modules. Every module has a
very full timetable with teaching all day and several co-curricular events and group work in the
evenings. During the two week modules (1, 3 and 4) you will have only one day off on the middle
Sunday. During the ten day modules (2 and 5) and Module 6 there are no free days.
Module attire is ‘smart casual’. We ask that you wear business attire at all the guest speaker events and
company visits. Specific details will be provided before each module.
This course is exceptionally intense and the classroom etiquette should be adhered to. Classroom
behavior is reviewed in the Student Handbook, which will be available on Moodle in advance of
Module 1. You will be asked to sign receipt of the document during registration at the start of Module
1.
In addition to your fellow students there will often be members of the TRIUM team in the classroom.
Occasionally prospective students will visit too. You are not permitted to bring individual guests into
the classroom. Should you be aware of a prospective student who would like to visit, please contact
TRIUM Admissions ([email protected]) who would organize a visit should this be
appropriate.
You will receive course materials in advance of every module. The readings will be distributed
digitally and any textbooks will be provided in e-book format, where possible.
Since all students are provided with identical books (where e-books aren’t available) and materials,
please clearly write your name on all printed materials you receive. In the event that they are lost or
misplaced, TRIUM will provide an additional copy if available, however costs, including the mailing
charge, will be for the student’s own account.
14. Where do I find out about student policies and the Code of Conduct?
The Class of 2021 Student Handbook is your key source of information for TRIUM policies on all
aspects of your studies. The Handbook will be available to you via Moodle before the start of Module
1. You are expected to familiarize yourself with the information it contains, and it will be referenced
throughout the program.

GENERAL INFORMATION
TRIUM will also provide a preview of each module during the preceding module. Travel and
accommodation information for the modules will be provided further in advance so you can make your
travel plans and book your hotel accommodation where applicable. Should you require any logistical
information about any of the modules please do not hesitate to contact TRIUM by email at
[email protected]. Please refer to the Program Overview and Preparation information page on
Moodle to assist with your Module 1 planning.
CONTACTS
Cheryl Wood is the LSE TRIUM Program Manager - please direct any general TRIUM queries to her
at [email protected] or [email protected]. Cheryl is based in London at LSE.
In addition, each module will have an operational point person who is the main TRIUM contact for
that module. The Program Managers are based in the three alliance schools. Please find below a list
of the Program Managers and the modules for which they are responsible:

You will receive detailed information about Module 1 in July. Meanwhile, please refer to the
following information for planning your trip to London.

ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE DETAILS
Sunday 8 September is the first day of the module where you will meet your new TRIUM classmates,
receive a formal welcome and take part in registration and orientation activities. The events will start
in the morning (the exact timings will be confirmed closer to the module). Students are therefore
advised to plan to arrive in London by Saturday 7 September.
Friday 20 September is the final day of the module. Class will finish in the evening and there will be
a closing dinner that night (attendance required as a co-curricular activity). Therefore, you should book
your return travel no earlier than Saturday 21 September.
SPOUSES/PARTNERS
We do not recommend that spouses and partners join students in London. Firstly, Module 1 is the first
of the six TRIUM modules and you will find that much of your time, especially during the evenings,
is about getting to know and “bond” with your fellow TRIUM students. Additionally, the module
timetable is very compact, including 11 full days of teaching with many required evening activities.
You will be very busy and will also want to make time to read and prepare for class the next day. There
is only one full free day on Sunday 15 September.
VISA INFORMATION
It is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct travel documentation to enter the United
Kingdom.
You may need a visa to enter the United Kingdom to attend the TRIUM module – please refer to
https://www.gov.uk/apply-to-come-to-the-uk (U.K. government site) to determine your visa
requirements.
Please note within the United Kingdom there is a category of visa called, “short-term student visa”
which you will most likely find is the most suitable visa for you. You can find a summary of this and
advice on how to apply on the LSE International Student Visa Advice Team (ISVAT) webpage.
If you are required to obtain a short-term student visa, you will need confirmation that you have been
accepted on a course of study by LSE. A letter can be requested from the TRIUM Program team
by emailing [email protected].
Additionally, LSE is required to take a scan of your passport and the visa sticker issued at the embassy
or entry stamp issued at the port of entry (where applicable) at Orientation (Sunday 8 September).
As with all visa requirements required for the TRIUM Program, we also advise that you check with
your local Embassy (refer to www.fco.gov.uk for a list of Embassies) as visa requirements and entry
clearances are subject to frequent modifications. Please allow yourself plenty of time to obtain a visa,
if required.
12
ACCOMMODATION
Please note it is your responsibility to book and organize payment for your Module 1
accommodation. Below is a list of hotels within walking distance of the LSE, including Club Quarters,
which offers LSE discounted rates and is 100 meters from the LSE building in which your classes will
take place. The prices listed for all accommodations are estimates based on the most basic room type
and therefore should be used as a guideline only. The prices are subject to change and students are
encouraged to book their accommodation in advance to secure the best rates.
This is not an exhaustive list of the hotel options and you are not required to stay at one of these hotels.
You are free to choose whichever hotel accommodation you would prefer – these are a few options to
help you begin your search. Please note these are estimated rates as of February 2019 and should be used
as a guideline only.
