Word Processors
A Word Processor (WP) is a device or computer program that
provides for input, editing, formatting, and output of text,
often with some additional features.

Word processors did not develop out of computer

technology. Rather, they evolved from mechanical machines
and only later did they merge with the computer field.

Word Processors
The history of word processing is the story of the gradual
automation of the physical aspects of writing and editing,
and then to the refinement of the technology to make it
available to corporations and Individuals.
The term word processing appeared in American offices in
early 1970s centered on the idea of streamlining the work to
typists, but the meaning soon shifted toward the automation
of the whole editing cycle.

Spreadsheet Application
A Spreadsheet is a computer application for computation,
organization, analysis and storage of data in tabular form.
Spreadsheets were developed as computerized analogs of paper
accounting worksheets.
The program operates on data entered in cells of a table. Each cell
may contain either numeric or text data, or the results of formulas
that automatically calculate and display a value based on the
contents of other cells. The term spreadsheet may also refer to
one such electronic document.

Presentation Software
Presentation software is a category of application software that is
specifically designed to allow users to create a presentation of ideas
by stringing together text, images and audio/video. The presentation
tells a story or supports speech or the presentation of information.

Presentation software can be divided into business presentation

software and general multimedia authoring software, but most
presentation software applications already provide tools that allow
users to create both professional-looking business presentations and
general multimedia presentations.

Desktop Publishing Application
Desktop publishing (DTP) software is designed for creating visual
communications such as brochures, business cards, greeting cards, web
pages, posters, and more for professional or personal printing online or on-
screen.

Programs such as Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Publisher, QuarkXPress, and

Scribus are examples of desktop publishing software. Professional graphic
designers and commercial printing technicians use some of these, whereas
office workers, teachers, students, small-business owners, and non-designers
use others. Their choices depend on capabilities, budget, and personal
preference.

Graphics software refers to a program or collection of
programs that enable a person to manipulate images or
models visually on a computer.

Web Browser
Web Browser
A Web Browser (also referred to as an Internet browser or
simply a browser) is application software for accessing the
World Wide Web or a local website. When a user requests a
web page from a particular website, the web browser
retrieves its files from a web server and then graphically
renders the page on the user's screen.
A web browser is not the same thing as a search engine,
though the two are often confused.
Web Browser
A search engine is a website that provides links to other
websites. However, to connect to a website's server and
display its web pages, a user must have a web browser
installed.
Web browsers are used on a range of devices, including
desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. In 2020, an
estimated 4.9 billion people used a browser. The most used
browser is Google Chrome, with a 63% global market share
on all devices, followed by Safari with 20%.
