In the figure below, ABCD is a parallelogram with vertices A(0 ;1) , B( − 2 ; − 4) , C(8 ;1)
and D(k ; 6) . AF is perpendicular to BC and parallel to CG. E is the point of intersection of
the diagonals of ABCD.

In the diagram, PQR has vertices P(5;2)

PT is the perpendicular height of PQR .

3.1. Simplify without using a calculator:

3.2 Calculate the value of x, correct to one decimal digit if x  90 ; 360 and

3.3 If 4 tan  = −3 and sin   0 , determine, without using a calculator and with
the aid of a sketch, the value of the following expression:

5.1 In the diagram below, O is the centre of the circle passing through A, B and C. Use the
diagram provided in this QUESTION PAPER to prove the theorem which states that
the angle subtended by an arc at the centre of the circle is twice the angle subtended by

5.2 In the diagram, ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral in the circle, having centre O. Tangent
FC meets AD produced to E. Radius AO and chord AC are drawn.

In the diagram, TP and TQ are tangents at P and Q respectively to the circle. P, Q and R lie
on the circumference of the circle. TY is drawn parallel to QR with Y on PR.
