POSITION SUMMARY:
This position assists the 7S staff to provide excellent level of service by assisting with errands,
supplies, clerical support, and interacting with patients/visitors on this oncology unit.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:
• Have a positive attitude.
• Adhere to Providence policies and procedures including service commitment, standards of
service and safety.
• Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for role.
• Wear required Providence ID badge and volunteer uniform while in the hospital - maintain a
professional appearance
• Complete all required education and training.
• Maintain confidentiality (HIPAA) and model it for others.
• Report any safety concerns to your manager or through the Providence Integrity Hotline.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
• Restock supply cupboards in patient rooms and record progress in the volunteer notebook.
• Stock hallway supplies (gowns, masks, etc.)
• Answer call lights – wearing required PPE & social distancing; no isolation rooms or AGP
units – and Vocera nurse with patient’s need(s)
• Assist patients with telephone; offer magazines and books and socialize as appropriate
• Provide warm blankets or towels
• Assist in discharging patients (locate clean wheelchair and transport patient to lobby)
• Assemble charts for admissions, breakdown charts after discharges
• Assist with clerical needs

Requirements:
• 6-month commitment with consistent service
• Age: must be an adult, 18 years old or older
• Must be able to convey information clearly and accurately
• Must be able to communicate and interact with a wide range of people and groups.
• Complete wheelchair training provided by Volunteer Services.
• Consistent and predictable attendance/punctuality

Preferred Skills & Abilities:


• Friendly, social, and energetic
• Ability to work with a team as well as independently
• Ability to receive and implement feedback/instructions

Physical Requirements: This position requires walking, standing for portions of time, and remaining
active during shift. At times, the volunteers will need to push patients in wheelchairs.
