Lesson Plan in Mathematics 7

Teacher’s Name: Lyndee Star E. Ledda, LPT. Date: October 01,2022

I. Objectives
At the end of 30 minutes discussion, the students are expected to
achieve 80% proficiency level:
a. Distinguish the rules on different operation of integers;
b. Construct a mathematical equation using the four (4) operation
of integers, and;
c. Recognize the importance of using integers in real life.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Operation on Integers

Materials: Cartolina, Colored Paper, Marker, Bond Paper, Laptop, Pojector
III. Procedures
A. Preliminary Activities
 Prayer
The teacher assigns the prayer leader of the day.
 Greetings
The teacher greets the students and inspires them to learn.
 Checking of attendance
The teacher checks and records the attendance of the students.
 Review
The teacher asks the students about the last meeting’s discussion.
The one who answers the question chooses one of her/his
classmate to give example.
 Motivation
The teacher puts a sticker under the chair of the students. Students
look under their chairs and get the stickers. Those who got the sticker
with a shape of star, would answer the questions. And those who did
not, are safe.
B. Lesson Proper
A. Activity
The teacher shows a video clip through laptop and projector, the video
clip entitled Application of Integers in Real Life. While the students
watching the video, they need to take note of what they noticed in the
video.
B. Analysis
The teacher groups the students into 4 groups. After the teacher
grouped the students, students go to their respective group. Each
group creates their graphic organizer about the video clip they
watched. The students choose their group representative who presents
an explain their output. The teacher then verifies if all their answers are
correct.
C. Abstraction
The teacher asks the student, what they noticed on that activity. And
then the teacher starts discuss the lesson for today:

The four (4) operations on integers.

 Addition
 Subtraction
 Multiplication
 Division

Addition

Rules in Adding Integers

To add integers having like signs:

a) Find their absolute values;

b) Add the number obtained in step a;
c) Attach the common sign of the integers to the answer in step b.

To add integers having unlike signs:

a) Find their absolute values;

b) From the obtained number in step a, subtract the smaller
number from the bigger number;
c) Attach the sign of the integers with the bigger absolute value to
the answer in step b.
Examples:

1. -6+(-3)= ?
-6+(-3)
|-6|+|-3|
6+3
-9
-6+(-3)= -9
2. -7+(-4)=?
-7+-4
|-7|+|-4|
7+4
11
-7+(-4)= -11
3. -125+117= ?
-125+117
|-125|-|117|
125-117
8
-125+(-117)= -8
4. 4+(-10)= /
4+(-10)
|4|+|-10|
4-10
-6
4+(-10)= -6

Subtraction

Rules in Subtracting Integers

Subtracting the number (n) from another number is the same as

adding (n) to the other number.

Examples:

1. -15-19= ?
-15-19
|-15|-|19|
15+19
34
-15-19= -34
2. -21-(-14)= ?
-21-(-14)
-21+14
-7
-21-(-14)= -7

Multiplication

a) To multiply two integers having unlike signs, find the product of

their absolute values. Attach the negative sign to the result.
b) To multiply integers with like signs, find the product of their
absolute values. The product will always positive.

Examples:

1. -5x3=?
|5|x|3|
15
-5x3= -15
2. 4x(-3)=?
|4|x|-3|
4x3
12
4x(-3)= -12
3. -23x(-4)=?
|-23|x|-4|
23x4
92
-23X(-4)= 92
4. 4x7=?
28
4x7=28

Division

a) To divide two integers with like signs, find the quotient their
absolute values. The result is always positive.
b) To divide integers with unlike signs, find the quotient of their
absolute values. Attach a negative sign to the result.

Examples:
1. 45÷5=9
2. -28÷(-70=?
|-28|÷|-7|
28÷7
=4
3. 18÷(-3)=?
18÷(-3)
|18|÷|-3|
18÷3
6
=-6
D. Application
The teacher groups the student. Since he students already have
respective group last activity. In this activity, teacher measures the
creativity of the students. The activity is, student constructs a 3
example of integers with solution. The teacher has a colorful envelope,
inside the envelope is the operation in integer. Student picks their
envelope and open it to know the operation that they used in their
example. And another thing, every group prepares their yell. Before
they present their output, they’re going to have a yell first. Teacher only
gives 2 minutes to do the task and 5 minutes to present their yell and
output.
IV. Evaluation
The teacher distributes the questionnaire to the class and let them answer the
questions written in the paper, by answering in a one-half sheet of paper.
V. Assignment
For their assignment, make their own five examples of each operation on
integers. Write it in a one whole sheet of paper.
