Illustration 5: Diagram of C4CLOUD functionalities.

2.3.1 ANTI-THEFT FUNCTION

The anti-theft management function allows to receive alarm notification when a theft of the generating set is
detected. There are two theft detection modes that can work independently or in combination.

 Perimeter Mode. In this mode the system detects when the genset leaves a configurable security
perimeter, sending notification to the users selected in the alarm configuration through HG Manager.

 Motion Mode. In this mode the system detects when the group has moved a configurable distance
from the last stable position, sending a warning each time it detects such a displacement. This mode
is useful to obtain the route followed by the genset.

7 | HIMOINSA® C4CLOUD
 Combined Mode. This mode combines perimeter and movement detection, so that users configured from
HG Manager will receive a warning when the generator set leaves the security perimeter and every time it
exceeds the movement detection distance.

For the correct operation of the anti-theft manager it is necessary to configure the device correctly through
the Anti-Theft configuration page of the WEB server.

1. Reference position. This is the position from which the system takes the reference to calculate the
security perimeter. The reference position is defined by the latitude and longitude values, with the format,
XX.XXXXXN/S, YY.YYYYYYW/E.

2. Security perimeter radius. Determines the value in meters of the radius defining the security perimeter.
This value only needs to be defined if Perimeter or Combined detection mode is selected.

3. Motion detection distance. Determines the value in meters of the distance in meters from the last
reference point at which the system alerts the user. This value only needs to be defined if the motion
detection or combined mode is selected.

The illustration shows the anti-theft management scheme in combined mode.

2.3.2 LOW POWER FUNTION

The C4CLOUD device offers a low power mode to conserve battery power while maintaining other
functionalities. The low power mode is activated and configured in the Low Power tab of the WEB server.

The low power mode comes into operation when the genset and the central unit are switched off. The Low
Power function is divided into two operating states, Sleep and Active. When the genset and the control unit are
switched off, the device enters sleep mode. In this mode the consumption of the system is greatly reduced.

There are 2 conditions under which the C4Cloud enters the Sleep state: a configurable inactivity time (period of
time without detection of CAN frames from the control unit) and the detection of input 1 at low level (designed to
connect the MAN signal from the genset). The Sleep state input by time can be configured, but not deactivated,
while input 1 can be activated.

The system can be configured to exit the Sleep state under three conditions: by time, by motion detection and
by change of state of any of the 3 inputs. These conditions are configurable through the Web server, being able
to activate the motion detection and its sensitivity, activate the 3 inputs independently and configure the time it
remains in the Sleep state. When one of the three exit conditions of the Sleep state occurs, the device goes to
Active state and sends the system status and GPS position to return to the Sleep state. If for some reason the
device is unable to establish a connection, it will return to the Sleep state after 15 minutes of inactivity. It would
also return to the Sleep state if any of the 2 conditions for entering this state mentioned above are met.

An indispensable requirement for the correct operation of this functionality is the connection of the MAN input of
the control panel.

2.3.3 HG MANAGER FUNCTIONS

The C4CLOUD kit allows the remote monitoring and control of gensets via the HG Manager web application.
Through the HG configuration tab on the WEB server it is possible to configure this functionality. The device
offers the possibility of establishing a connection to the server via Ethernet, Wifi or via the built-in modem.

Up to 5 gensets controlled by Himoinsa power plants can be monitored with one and the same device. When
the gensets are equipped with Himoinsa control panels, the C4CLOUD device automatically recognises the
number of control panels and manages the information from each of them to send it to the server in separate
packets.

2.3.4 FACTORY CONFIGURATION RESET FUNCTION

The C4CLOUD device allows the configuration to factory settings by using a Reset button. By pressing and
holding this button for more than 30 seconds and less than 40 seconds, the device will erase its complete
configuration and events stored in memory, and reload the default configuration.

The Reset button integrates different functionalities. For more information, see the Reset button functionalities
section.

2.3.5 RESET BUTTON FUNCTIONALITIES

The C4CLOUD device has a Reset button which has multiple functions depending on how long it is pressed.
When the Reset button is released, one of the modes indicated in the table below will be activated, depending
on the time of pressing. The CAN LED indicates which mode will be selected at any given moment if the Reset
button is released. After 40 seconds of pressing, the LED will turn off and all actions will be cancelled.

3 Configuration.
The C4CLOUD device incorporates a web server from which it is possible to diagnose the status of TCP, 4G, Wifi, GPS,
CAN, RS-485 communications, and the monitoring of the Himoinsa CEM7/CEA7 control panels that are connected. It is
also possible to configure the different functionalities of the device, reset the default parameters or reset the device. The
web server consists of several password-protected information and configuration pages (User: himoinsa, Password:
c4cloud). The communication with the web server is done through the HTTP protocol on port 80. When the configuration is
completed on each of the pages it is necessary to save the changes using the SAVE button that appears when a parameter
is modified and finally restart the device to apply the changes using the Reboot button.

3.1 CONFIGURATION MODE

The C4CLOUD device has a Configuration mode that enables the device to be configured by the user independently of the
active communication channels. To enter this mode the Reset button must be held down for at least 10 seconds (see Reset
button functionalities section).

When entering configuration mode the C4Cloud device activates an AP that allows point-to-point connection from Wifi
devices. The name of the Wifi network created by the C4Cloud matches its Host Name.

When the C4Cloud device detects 15 minutes of inactivity with Configuration mode active, it exits Configuration mode and
restarts the device.

During Configuration mode, if communications with the HG Manager server via Wifi are enabled, they will be interrupted.
Upon exiting this mode or restarting the device, communications via Wifi will be restored.

3.2 CONNECTING THE DEVICE

For security reasons, the C4Cloud device disables its web server whenever communications via modem or Wifi are
enabled.

The configuration modes of the C4Cloud device from the different communication channels are detailed below:

 Ethernet: To configure the device via Ethernet connection from your web server, it is necessary to activate the
Configuration mode in the device (see section Configuration Mode) or the connections via modem and Wifi must
be disabled.

To access the WEB server for the first time, it is necessary to connect a PC to the device via a point-to-point
Ethernet cable. Once connected, it is necessary to adjust the Ethernet network range of the PC to be able to
access the device, following the steps described below:
1) Access the PC's network configuration window by clicking on:

Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change adapter settings -> Ethernet
Properties -> Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) -> Properties.

Illustration 8: Network adapter configuration window.

2) Configure the PC to use a fixed IP. Define the IP address 192.168.1.100, a subnet mask
255.255.255.0 and accept the changes.

3) Open a web browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer) and enter the address
192.168.1.10 in the search bar.

To access from an Ethernet network to which the device is connected, if the DHCP connection has been
previously configured, the IP address provided by the network router must be used.

 Wifi: To configure the device via Wifi connection from its web server, it is necessary to activate the Configuration
mode in the device (see section Configuration Mode) and connect to the AP generated by the C4Cloud device.

To access the WEB server via Wifi, it is possible through a PC, tablet or smartphone with Wifi. To do this, the
following steps must be followed:

1) The AP of the C4Cloud device integrates an active DHCP, so the C4Cloud device will assign an IP to the
connected devices, provided that they have configured the automatic obtaining of their IP.

Illustration 9: Automatic IP configuration for connection to the Wifi AP for PC.

2) The AP name will be of type "C4CLOUD_xxxx" and its default password will be of type

3.4.5 HG
The HG configuration tab allows you to configure the parameters required to use the HG Manager application.
It is recommended not to modify the factory settings related to the connection with the server. It is important to
correctly define the type of distributor of the genset control panels so that the system can communicate
correctly with them.

The C4CLOUD device automatically selects the communication channel with the HG server from among the
active channels, giving priority firstly to the modem connection, secondly to the Wifi connection and finally to
the Ethernet connection. It is recommended to disable the communication channels that are not going
to be used, in order to establish communications via the desired channel.

4. GENSET WORKBENCH CONFIGURATOR
The Genset WorkBench application is based on the search of devices through the UDP protocol (User Datagram Protocol)
that allows the sending of packets without a previous connection, allowing broadcast or multicast addressing. For
communication via Ethernet or Wifi, the C4CLOUD device sends UDP identification packets that are used by the Genset
WorkBench application in order to identify the device and access the web server. In this way the application lists all the
C4CLOUD devices that remain connected to the network, allowing access to them transparently. For more information,
please refer to the user manual of the Genset Workbench application.

The C4Cloud device can also be connected via modem communication. For this purpose, Genset Workbench must be run
from the HG Manager application (see the HG Manager application manual).

Illustration 35: GENSET WORKBENCH application.

There are some networks where UDP broadcast traffic is blocked so that the Genset WorkBench application cannot find
the C4CLOUD devices present in the installation. In this case, the IP address of the C4CLOUD device must be known and
manually added to the list through the Remote Connections menu of the application. This tab displays a form where the IP
address of the device must be entered. Once the connection is accepted, the device is added to the list allowing access to
the web server.

4.1 USER INTERFACE

The user environment of the application is distributed as follows:

 The device will then be listed and the web server will be accessible.

Illustration 41: Device listed by remote connection.

4.3 CONFIGURATION WINDOW

When the C4CLOUD device is listed by the application, it is possible to access the web server by clicking on the listed
device. The configuration procedure is as follows:

 Install the Genset WorkBench application on the PC.

40 | HIMOINSA® C4CLOUD
 Connect the C4CLOUD device and the PC to the Ethernet network.

 Power the C4CLOUD device and wait for the ON LED to light up.

 Start the Genset WorkBench application.

 Wait until the C4CLOUD to be configured is listed in the Genset WorkBench application.

 Select the device to be configured. If the PC is working on a different network than the C4CLOUD device, the
Genset WorkBench application will report that access is not possible. When this happens, the application will
display the IP of the device to allow the user to modify the working range of the PC and be able to access the
device as shown in section 3.2.

 Modify the configuration of the C4CLOUD device and save the changes made in each of the tabs.

 Press the Reboot button in the configuration menu and wait 3 seconds for the device to reboot.

ANNEX III: CAN COMMUNICATIONS
1. INTRODUCTION
The CAN bus is an industrial bus characterised by high robustness and reliability and guarantees the correct
communication between devices in the noisiest environments. Devices with CAN controllers can be integrated into an
industrial automation and control system.

The most relevant features of a control system with CAN bus communication are as follows:

 It is possible to connect up to 110 devices in a single CAN network.

 Each network can be up to 1000 metres long, easily extendable (up to 2000 metres) with the use of bridges or
repeaters.
 CAN transmission rate of 50 kbits/s (for 1000 metres of bus: 10 ms data update).
 The CANbus can operate in environments with extreme noise and interference conditions, while error checking
mechanisms ensure that noise-contaminated frames are detected.

The CAN bus is designed so that communication will continue even if:

 Either of the two bus wires breaks.

 Either wire is short-circuited to ground.
 Any wire is short-circuited to power.

2. TOPOLOGY
The CAN network uses a bus topology, where each node has one input and one output connection. The end nodes of the
bus must have a 120 terminator; this terminator is activated via a switch on each module (ON: terminator active, 1:
terminator inactive). In any case, the impedance between the CANH and CANL lines must be approximately 60. For this
purpose, at each end of the network, a resistor of a value such that this impedance is guaranteed from any connected
module must be set.

NOTE: The existing impedance should be measured when all equipment is no longer in operation or has no physical
access from the network. For further information it is recommended to consult the ISO11898 specification and various
application notes on this subject.

Illustration 43: CAN bus topology.

3. WIRING
The CAN network requires cabling depending on the distance, transmission speed and number of nodes connected to the
bus.

Table 25: CAN cabling characteristics according to number of nodes.

An unshielded twisted pair cable is required to connect the various nodes of the network. As an exception, an untwisted
cable can be used for the connection between the measurement and display module of the control unit.
In very noisy environments with high electromagnetic interference (EMI), shielded twisted pair cable with the shield
connected to the installation ground can be used. Another technique to improve immunity to electromagnetic interference is
to replace the CAN terminator of the node with 2 resistors of 62 and install a decoupling capacitor between the CAN
resistors and the battery negative.
