Description This half-day course is designed to provide XMLaware business managers with an overview of the Geography Markup Language (GML). This course will describe the motivations for the creation of GML, its role in web service architectures, and provide a non-technical description of the core GML components. The basic GML model (object-property rule, remote properties) and the construction of GML application schemas will be explained. A brief overview of current and emerging GML technologies will be provided.

Description This half-day course is designed for geo-spatial technical professionals who wish to gain an in depth knowledge of GML. This course will provide a detailed technical description of GML components (geometries, features, topologies, observations, coverages, dynamic features, time, and units of measure), and show how these are used in developing application specific vocabularies. The role of GML in SOAbased spatial infrastructures will be discussed and illustrated using the OGC WFS (Web Feature Service), Feature Portrayal Service (WMS) and Web Registry Service. The course assumes a basic understanding of XML and standard programming concepts. Attendees unfamiliar with GML are advised to take the Introduction to GML session offered on Tuesday.
