Cheat Sheets - Selection Decision Table
The selection decision table is the process of making decisions from the information provided. It
is a method in which we derive an ultimate conclusion after analyzing the specified data.
Types of Questions
Type 1
Here a set of rules is detailed as the criteria for selection. It is trailed by the candidate’s
qualification. In the procedure of selection, two conditions are compulsory, they are:
● Primary
● Additional
Type 2
Here a factual based theory or passage is given and based on that, the same problems are to be
solved. We have to decide the best feasible solution for the question asked.
Note: One should, however, keep in mind that reading the problem statement carefully can
easily lead them to answers in a less time
PRACTICE EXERCISE
1. The below question presents a situation, you have to make a judgment regarding that
circumstance. Choose an answer based on the given information.
Abhijeet is planning the wedding anniversary for his parents. He wants the evening to be
memorable for everyone, but his family is vegetarian and does not enjoy spending money. He
would prefer a tasty meal, rather than going out for drinks.
A. The Lalit is known for its non-vegetarian dishes and elegant decor.

B. Bukhara is a fine dining restaurant, and it is the most expensive in the city. It offers North

C. The Big buffet is a popular restaurant in the city. It is popular for its affordable prices and
vegetarian dishes.

2. Vedanta hospital is looking for an orthopedic for their new block. They want someone who is
having an experience, at least 7 years. He should have worked with the government organization
for 2 years. His age should not be over 45 years and willing to work in night shifts as well.
A. Doctor 1: is a young doctor, worked with a government hospital for 2 years. His total
experience excluding government service is 4 years. He is energetic and comfortable in
night shifts.
B. Doctor 2: Is a lady with an experience of 12 years, she has worked with the government
hospital for 5 years and runs her own clinic. She is 42 years old and prefers only morning
shifts.
C. Doctor 3: Is a middle age man, 38 years old. He is comfortable with night shifts and having
11 years of experience in total. He has also worked in a government hospital for 3 years.
D. Doctor 4: Is 25 years old. Having 2 year of experience in a private clinic. She is a gold
medalist and can work in night shift.

Read the following information carefully and answer the below questions. Based on the below
criteria and the information given in each of the following questions, decide on the promotability
of each case.
The following are the criteria for promotion from Grade B to A in a government organization. The
employee must-
1. Be a graduate with a minimum of 65% of marks.
2. His/her age should not be more than 45 as of today i.e. is 10.11.2020
3. Get a minimum of 70 prescribed scores in the Promotion Test.
4. Should be in the service for at least 6 years in the same organization out which is at least
2 years in group B.
5. If a candidate fulfils all other criteria except (2) and is less than 50 years of age, then his
case will be referred to the selection committee.
6. If a candidate fulfils all other criteria but does not have 2 years of experience in Grade B
but scores more than 90% in Promotion Test, then his case is referred to the Board of
Directors.
3. Arjun joined the organization at the age of 32 in 2013, in Grade C. After 4 years, he was
promoted to Grade B. He got 76% in his graduation and done master in mathematics with 85%.

The Following are the criteria for the allotment of the affordable house under the government
scheme. The applicant must-
1. Be an Indian citizen.
2. Should not have any other property with his name.
3. The total income of the family should not be over 35000 per month.
4. Should not have any police records.
5. Should not have a parental property in the same city.
6. If the applicant fulfils all the other criteria except (3) then he can apply for the property
in the second round but with a condition that the total income should not exceed 50000
per month.
7. If the applicant fulfils all the criteria except (5) then his case will be considered by the
authorities.

Radhika is a young working professional. She is the only earning member of her family. Her
monthly income is 25000 per month. She has an Indian passport and does not have any police
record. Her parents don’t have any property in the same city.

SOLUTION:
1. Answer: Option C
Since Abhijeet’s family is vegetarian, choices ‘a’ can be ruled out. Choice b, although it’s a
fine dining restaurant, his family does not enjoy spending money and it is the most
expensive restaurant in the city so we can eliminate option b. Option D can also be ruled
out because Xingu is a bar and his father will prefer food to drinks. Thus he will prefer
Option C for the celebrations
2. Answer: Option C
Only option C is satisfying the conditions
3. Answer: Option D
Data is inadequate, the score of the promotion test is not mentioned in the question.
4. Answer: Option C
She fulfils all other criteria except (2) and is less than 50 years of age, therefore her case
will be referred to the selection committee.
