GUIDELINES FOR UNDERTAKING THE PROJECT

I. General Guidelines:
1. Course Selection and project finalisation:
o Decide whether you want to undertake an NGO project, or a Start-Up based project
and notify the course coordinator of your choice by 16 th July 2024. (google form will
be circulated)
o Students can form a group (not more than three) for undertaking the project and
communicate the same to the coordinator by 16 th July 2024 (google form will be
circulated)
o Select the organisation you want to undertake this project under and notify to the
coordinator by 16th July 2024. (Google form will be circulated)

2. Attendance and Participation:


o Regular attendance is mandatory for all students one hour (synchronous class) every
week. Students must be present in the respective classes for the preparation of the
project report and other activities during this one hour.
o A student must be present at the premises of the organisation and must work for the
organisation for the rest of the thirty asynchronous classes. The student must
maintain a log sheet for the work done in the organisation (format will be circulated).
The log sheet will have to be submitted during the submission of the report.

3. Project Timeline:
o NGO or Start-up Project – 16th July 2024
o Selection of the organisation – 16th July 2024
o Submission of the first chapter – 3rd August 2024
o Submission of the second chapter – 1th August 2024
o Submission of final report – 18th October 2024
o Final viva and presentation – 21st October 2024 (tentative date)

4. Project Report
o The final project report must be submitted in the prescribed format (will be circulated)
within the given timeline.

II. NGO Project Guidelines:
1. What is an NGO?
An NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) in the Indian context refers to a non-profit,
voluntary citizens' group organized on a local, national, or international level to address
issues in support of the public good. NGOs operate independently from the government,
although they may receive government funding or collaborate with government agencies for
specific projects. They play a significant role in the socio-economic development of the
country by addressing various issues such as poverty, education, health, environment,
human rights, and social justice.
2. Project Selection:
o Choose an NGO to partner with, based on the organization's needs and your interests.
o Obtain permission from the organisation you have decided to do the project under.
o Obtain approval from the course coordinator before starting the project.

3. Needs Assessment:
o Conduct a thorough needs assessment to understand the community and the specific
issues your project will address.
o Use surveys, interviews, and other research methods to gather data.

4. Project Planning:
o Develop a detailed project plan outlining goals, objectives, resources, and timelines.
o Create a budget and identify any necessary resources or support required from the
NGO.

5. Implementation:
o Execute the project according to the plan, ensuring active collaboration with the NGO.
o Regularly update the NGO and course coordinator on project progress.

6. Evaluation:
o Develop evaluation criteria to measure the impact and success of your project.
o Collect data and feedback to assess the outcomes and areas for improvement.
o Prepare a final report detailing the project process, results, and lessons learned.

Start-Up Project Guidelines:

1. What is a Start-up?
In the Indian context, a "start-up" refers to a young ( not older than 5 years) and innovative
business venture that is in the early stages of its development. Start-ups are typically
characterized by their focus on unique products or services, scalable business models, and
potential for high growth. These enterprises are often founded by entrepreneurs who aim to
address market gaps, disrupt existing industries, or create entirely new markets.

2. Project Selection:
o Choose a start-up to collaborate with, focusing on innovative and impactful projects.
o Secure an approval from the start-up
o Secure approval from the course coordinator before starting the project.

3. Understanding Start-Up Dynamics:


o Research the start-up industry and understand the challenges and opportunities.
o Study the specific start-up's business model, market, and goals.

4. Project Planning:
o Develop a comprehensive project plan, including objectives, strategies, and timelines.
o Identify key deliverables and milestones for the project.

5. Implementation:
o Work closely with the start-up team to implement the project, adapting to changes as
needed.
o Utilize creative problem-solving skills to overcome resource constraints and other
challenges.

6. Professional Development:
o Network with professionals in the start-up industry to build connections. o Attend
relevant workshops, seminars, or networking events to enhance your entrepreneurial
skills.

7. Evaluation:
o Develop metrics to evaluate the success and impact of your project. o Gather
feedback from the start-up team and other stakeholders. o Prepare a final report
outlining the project process, achievements, and personal learning experiences.
