• Electrical Division (Coil and Panel)
Day 1
• Day 1 (8th July 2024): We met Mr. Hiren Shah, Dy Manager (Furnace) on the shop
floor. Mr. Shah explained the general procedure from installation to testing of the
electrical control panel. Then he guided us to see the fabrication process of bus bars
from copper strips in different shapes and sizes. He also explained the inclusion of
water-cooling copper ducts in the bus bar. We witnessed the installation and testing of
Electric control panels of different sizes. The fabrication and testing of various
induction coils, as well as testing of other electrical components like, Inductors,
Capacitors, Snubber circuit, Protection switches, Relays and circuit breakers, etc were
shown to us.
• Day 2 (9th July 2024): The second day started with a meeting with Mr. Viken Patel,
Manager –Production (Furnace). He elaborated on the detailed process of Induction
furnace fabrication at Inductotherm of different types and ranges, including some tailor-
made furnaces starting from 5kg to 50 tons capacity along with their applications. He
displayed the fabrication of the furnace and all its related processes on the shop floor
and explained each and every size of the induction furnace in detail. The detailed
explanation about various frames of the different types of induction furnaces of
different capacity and the induction coils used for them. In post-lunch session, we
visited the brazing and painting shop to understand the process.
• Day 3 (10th July 2024): Third day started with a meeting with Mr. Kinjal Vekaria, Asst.
General Manager (Test & Service - Heating). The discussion took place with respect to
the testing and services of induction heating and welding furnaces. Inductotherm
produces tailormade heating furnaces as per the needs of the customers. A lot of

technical discussion was carried out with Mr. Vekaria. We studied their technical
manuals related to the testing.
• Day 4 (11th July 2024): On the fourth day, we again met Mr. Kinjal Vekaria, Asst.
General Manager (Test & Service - Heating). The discussion took place related to
induction welding furnaces and their related testing processes. We also visited their
metallurgy department and witnessed the testing processes of various metals.
• Day 5 (12th July 2024): Inductotherm has its state-of-the-art capacitor manufacturing
capacity. We met Mr. Aditya Limgavkar, Sr. General Manager (Capacitor). He
explained us about the captive capacitor units of the plants for manufacturing both DC
and AC capacitors of different ranges, mostly for induction heating applications. We
visited the new units of Capacitor fabrication and learned the process in detail. Post
lunch, we visited the PCB and electronics section and met Mr. Pranav Mehta, Dy.
General Manager (Electronics). He explained us about the fabrication, assembling, and
testing of PCBs and control circuits for Induction heating applications.
• Day 6 (13th July 2024): Last day we visited the maintenance and utility division of the
company and understood their electrical requirements. The maintenance manager
explained us about the total power consumption of the plant and, total installation
capacity along the roof-top solar PV generation, Then he showed us different
transformers and chiller plants that maintain the ambient temperature of the shop floor.
He also explained about the captive power generation through DG sets installed in the
plant premises. The detailed maintenance process is being explained to us.
At the end of the training, we met with Mr. Naishadh Parekh, Managing Director,
Inductotherm (India) Pvt. Ltd. and share our experiences and feedback with him.
• Learned the conventional process of induction heating and the latest trends in metal
heating i.e. vacuum heating used for special metals and alloys in aerospace and
defence applications.
• Learned the energy-efficient techniques used by industries. These techniques shall
be discussed in the classroom teaching with the UG students.
• The training helped us to create a rapport with the industry professionals which will
help in future collaboration for industry visits and expert sessions for the EE
students.
• Invited Mr. Bhuvnesh Vora , GM (Production) to deliver the talk in the orientation
program for semester VII, EE students. Mr. Vora delivered talk on Kaizen
techniques on 18th July 2024.
