INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW

Intellectual Property- refers to


creations of the mind such as
inventions; literary and artistic
works; designs; symbols; names
and image used in commerce.

Intellectual Property Code of the


Philippines (Republic Act No. 8293)
Intellectual property is protected in
law by, for example, patents,
copyrights and trademarks, which
enables people to earn recognition or
financial benefit from what they invent
or create.

By striking the right balance between


the interest of innovators and the
wider public interest, the IP system
aim to foster an environment in which
creativity and innovation can flourish.
COPYRIGHT

Legal term used to


describe the rights that
creators have over
their literary and
artistic works.
RIGHTS UNDER COPYRIGHT
1. Economic right- Rights owner can prohibit or authorize:
• Reproduction in various forms
• Public performance
• Recording
• Broadcasting
• Translation into other language
• Adaptation

Received renumeration for the use of right owner’s work.

• The right to claim
authorship of a work.
• Right to oppose changes of
work that could harm the
creator’s reputation.

other types of online communication.
