INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE LEARNERS:

Good Day learners! Please be informed and be reminded on our activities for this Quarter that can be
found using your Text Book in Computer Education-10. Kindly answer and refer the following
BookPages for our activities below. No need to worry about the given deadlines or submissions. Submit
it next face-to-face class schedule.

I. LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED WITH PROGRAMMING USING SCRATCH

APPLICATION.
( WEEK 1 )
Directions: Read and study carefully the lessons 1. About an “Understanding Computer Programming
or C Programming Language” It is very important for us to know , learned and understand the concept of
“C” Programming language through the use of scratch application program, for us to determine the
control structures, syntax and even the process of “C” Language and the different types of computer
programming language used.

PROGRAMMING is the Process of creating programs or applications(software) and without the program,
Technologies will not function or performed/work properly.

Based on our previous lessons, since Grade 7 until Grade 9. We had tackled and discussed about the
history of computers, Input and Output Devices, Elements of Computer System And even THE
COMPONENT OF COMPUTERS and etc.

We already learned of what is software? Right? A software is the main program of

the computers. Software- is the set of instructions that tells the computers, what to do a
particular certain tasks with the command of the users. All the applications that we are using In
our devices like(smartphones, smartwatches and smartT.V(s) and even in the computers are part of the
software or called Program.
The Algorithms are refers to a logical sequence of steps an procedures to solve a
problem. Algorithms is used to solve a certain problem in the program. A step by step guides to solve
that particular problem of our computers one of the algorithm examples are FLOWCHARTS.
That can be found on your Textbook in Page 4 until Page 6. A flowchart is a diagram that
represents the algorithm and it contains a various, shapes connected by arrows. This is one of the most
important phases in the program development. If you wanted to be a webdeveloper someday you must
follow the ethical rules in computer-programming.

That can be found on your Textbook on Page 6-7. Here are it’s seven (7) General MORAL
Imperatives.

1. You must Contribute to society and to human well-being, acknowledging that all people are
stakeholders in computing.
2. Avoid harm to others.
3. BE HONEST and Trustworthy.
4. BE Fair and Take action NOT to DISCRIMINATE UNFAIRLY.
5. Respect the work required to produce new IDEAS, INVENTIONS, CREATIVE WORKS and
Computing artifacts.
6. RESPECT PRIVACY.
7. HONOR CONFIDENTIALITY.

Kindly read and study carefully. Use a one (1) whole sheet of Paper on answering the given
activities below. Answer Directly and;
Kindly refer on the following book pages, thank you  ;

II. LESSON 2: GETTING STARTED WITH SCRATCH ( WEEK 1 )

Note for the students: For this activity, the students will be exploring the
scratch application by their own pace, that can be accessed in the web
browsers, using this link indicated/provided : www.scratch.mit.edu
FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH IT. You must first create an acct. so, that
you can navigate and use the scratch application program.

Lesson Overview/Instructions:

A scratch application program is useful in creating such as online animated games, and other
different programs like animated stories and animations that we could use in the scratch program. Some
of my previous students in Grade 10 Galileo, Newton and Einstein, they already learned how to use
scratch application individually they created their own games and animated stories and etc. A scratch
program is a visual programming elements and block-based programming languages developed by the
life long kindergarten group of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology or MIT. Scratch is a language
programing application that was developed in year 1970s by Seymour Papert. This lesson 2 can be found
on Page 16-17.

Directions: Read and study carefully the lesson 2 that can be found on Page 16-17 and Answer the
ACTIVITY 1 and Activity 2 : on Page 18 -19. Use a one (1) whole sheet of paper to answer this Activity.
GOOD LUCK. Submit it next week, based on our class schedule time.

PERFORMANCE TASKS FOR GRADE 10 LEARNERS.
Grading Points: (70%)
***Not yet complied:
JUST READ and STUDY only your Textbook on Page 39-67, in
Computer Education-9. ABOUT SCRATCH APPLICATION.

FOR OUR PERFORMANCE TASKS

NOTE: Encouraging all the student to navigate and explore the scratch application as our
main topics/lessons for the 1st Quarter as refer on your Computer Education Text Book.
Since, SCRATCH APPLICATION will be our main lessons for this quarter. I
encourage you, my dear learners to have your own chosen groups. The activities
that can be found on Page 39-67, will be a group activity. Because, I know that
some of your classmates, does not have a devices like laptop to answer the
activities that can be found starting on Page 39-67. Please, let us help each other
and be Interactive as Part of our learnings. Scratch application will not work if you
are not connected from the Internet. Since our Computer Lab, has no, Internet
connectivity. Kindly answer, those activities that is no required using internet access.
Hoped you will also understand.

Please COVER your Comp.Ed Notebook in blue Cartolina or make it sure that the color of your
notebook is blue if not, then cover it in blue cartolina. And kindly Buy one (1) Long Folder for
our compilation of activities for this semester for our subject in (Computer Education-9) all our
activities must be putted in the long folder. Thank you.

needed to create a flowchart. (10 points each) GOOD LUCK!!S
TASK 1 : MAKE A FLOWCHART to LOG-IN YOUR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT using Repetition
Process.
Answer:
Tasks 2: MAKE A FLOWCHART after you woke up early in the morning before going to
school. What are the steps? USE the SEQUENCE FLOWCHART Structural Process.
Answer:

Tasks 3. Make a FLOWCHART that Add 10 and 20. Follow the instructions
indicated below.

Directions : To solve this problem, we will take a variable sum and set it to zero.
Then we will take the two numbers 10 and 20 as input. Next we will add both the
numbers and save the result in the variable sum i.e., sum = 10 + 20. Finally, we
will print the value stored in the variable sum.

Follow the Algorithm Process: Use MS Word application to make Flowchart using
the shapes/symbols.

 Initialize sum = 0 (PROCESS)

 Enter the numbers (I/O)
 Add them and store the result in sum (PROCESS)
 Print sum (I/O)

Tasks 4: Make a flowchart to log in to Facebook account

This problem can be solved in many ways so, we will encourage you to
think and draw a flowchart for this problem using your imagination.

To log in to Facebook account, we first enter the Facebook URL

www.facebook.com in our browser like Google, Firefox, Safari, Internet
Explorer etc. This request is sent to the Facebook server and it responds by
sending us the home page of Facebook.

Next, we enter our registered Email ID and Password and click the Login
button.

Then our login credential is checked. If it is correct, we are show our

profile. On the other hand, if the login credential is wrong then an error
occurs and we are prompted to re-enter our Email ID and Password.

Follow the Algorithm Process: Use MS Word application to make Flowchart using
the shapes/symbols.

1. Start (Terminal)
2. Enter www.facebook.com in your browser. (I/O)
3. facebook Home page loads (PROCESS)
4. Enter your Email ID and Password (I/O)
5. Is Email ID and Password Valid? (DECISION)
if NO then
Log in error (PROCESS)
go to step 3
else
Display facebook Account (I/O)
Stop(Terminal)
