o All the support documents such as graphs should be attached with clear
images. (Submit the hard copies if possible)

1. In a catchment area approximated by a circle of diameter 100 km, four rainfall

stations are situated inside the catchment and one station outside in its neighborhood.
The coordinates of the center of the catchment and of the five stations are given in
Table Q.1. Also, given are the annual precipitation recorded by the five stations in
1990. Determine the average annual precipitation by Thiessen method.

2. The isohyets due a rain event in a catchment were drawn and the areas of the
catchment bounded by isohyets were obtained as table below. (Table Q.2)
Estimate the mean precipitation due to the storm.

a. Plot the hyetograph and the mass curve of the storm

b. Obtain values of maximum intensities of this storm considering 10 min, 20
min, and 30 min intervals. Plot a curve of maximum intensity vs. duration.

4. Rain gauge station D was inoperative for part of a month during which a storm
occurred. The storm rainfall recorded in the three surrounding stations A, B and C was
8.5, 6.7 and 9.0 cm, respectively. If the normal annual rainfall for the stations is 75, 84,
70 and 90 cm, respectively, estimate the storm rainfall at D.
