TITLE OF Interactive Strategies Utilize by Grade 10 Araling Panlipunan
RESEARCH Teachers in Increasing Academic Performance of Grade 10 Students
of Calamba Integrated School

DIVISION Calamba City

Introduction and Rationale

Araling Panlipunan is one of the major subjects in junior high school. In
teaching araling panlipunan teachers used rote learning or memorization of
different facts, events, people, geography and important dates in the history.
Teachers oftenly used discussion method in teaching Araling Panlipunan to help
students process information rather than receiving it. Leading a discussion
requires skills different from lecturing and its goal is to practice thinking about
certain materials. Students nowadays have very short span of attention in
listening in their class especially in Araling Panlipunan. The teachers need to
utilize different interactive strategies to encourage participation and interaction
inside the classroom during teaching and learning process.
The researcher will conduct study about the effectiveness of utilization of
different strategies in teaching Araling Panlipunan. According to Mapacpac
(2023) in his research entitled “Effectiveness of Interactive Learning Strategies in
Teaching World History” social studies generally concern with the studies on
human beings relative to what is real and practical. The recognition of human
being as the most important aspect of teaching and learning and development of
purposeful skills and knowledge to enable him/her to function well in society is
one noticeable fact that was recognize in teaching social studies. In teaching
Araling panlipunan, it is important to use child-centered teaching strategies in
order to realize the goals and objectives of the subject. To be a competent and
effective teacher it requires hard work. It also requires teachers to utilize different
interactive strategies to encourage interaction between teacher and students in
the teaching and learning process.
The research will be anchored in DepEd Memorandum No. 54 s. 2023 also
known as “Pilot Implementaion of MATAG Curriculum” in all public and private
schools in the Philippines. One of the objectives of the MATATAG curriculum is
to identify the issues, challenges and gaps in education. Students nowadays
evolved differently. They are more active whenever challenges are given especially
when the activities are done collaboratively. Students learn to develop and
acquire new skills with the help of new technology and using variety of methods
in teaching Araling Panlipunan. In order to realize the goals and objective of
the MATATAG curriculum teachers of Araling Panlipunan should employ
different interactive strategies such as role playing, collaborative learning
approach, cooperative learning, constructivist approach, contextualized and

experiential learning, thematic method , conceptual approach, integrative
approach, tri-question approach, indigenization ,and inquiry method to make
teaching-learning process more meaningful especially our learners.
Research Questions
1. What are the interactive strategies utilized by Grade 10 Araling Panlipunan
teachers in teaching Araling panlipunan 10.
2. What is the academic performance of the grade 10 students in the 3rd quarter and
in the 4th quarter ?
3. What interactive strategies can be propose or suggested for the Araling Panlipunan
teachers?
Scope and Limitation
The researchers will conduct research entitled “Interactive Strategies Utilize by
Grade 10 Araling Panlipunan Teachers in Increasing Academic Performance of Grade 10
students of Calamba Integrated School. Grade 10 Araling Panlipunan teachers will be
using different interactive strategies in teaching Araling Panlipunan. In this research there
will be a comparison of impact of different interactive strategies in teaching Araling
Panlipunan 10 in the academic performance of grade 10 students in the fourth quarter
and will propose topic in the SLAC session to introduce teaching strategies that can be
employed in teaching Araling Panlipunan 10 to increase the academic performance of the
students.
Research Methodology

The researcher will be using quasi experimental method.

A. Participants of the Study
The respondents of the study are the Grade 10 Araling Panlipunan teachers
of Calamba Integrated School.

B. Data Gathering Method

The researcher will utilize survey questionnaire about the interactive
strategies utilize by Grade 10 Araling Panlipunan teachers in teaching Araling
Panlipunan. During the third quarter the teachers will utilize different interactive
strategies in teaching Araling Panlipunan and its impact in the academic
performance of the Grade 10 students of Calamba Integrated School.

C. Data Analysis Plan
