WORKSHEET 2

Name: Lyndon Earle R. Sulit______________ Class Schedule: MW 8-12 ___________

1. Discuss the role and significance of law/constitution to (1) yourself and to the (2)
country?

- The Law protects me from harm either by granting me rights to things I need to
survive like food and by giving me other privileges or by preventing other
people from harming me.

- Law maintains the peace and order of the country. It is the thing that prevents
people from doing whatever they want and causing chaos and harm to others.
The law is there to create an environment where everyone is safe and has a
chance to live a peaceful life.

2. Please discuss the importance of the following:

a. Driver’s license renewal
- Vehicles cause lots of accidents and even deaths so being eligible for driving
should not be taken lightly. Drivers’ physical and mental state may change.
Renewal of license ensures that drivers are still currently legible to drive and
are still fit to be driving in the road

b. Wearing of helmet while riding a motorcycle

- Motorcycle accidents are one of the most common vehicle accidents and can
be fatal. Having a helmet during an accident drastically increases your
chances of survival. Thus, it is crucial to require wearing them whether the
driver likes it or not.

c. Securing a building construction permit

- Constructing a building can also be dangerous, especially when it is a big
building. Aside from this, a poorly constructed building may deteriorate while
in use, which will lead to casualties. A building permit ensures that
construction is done correctly and safety standards are met. Aside from
safety, it also ensures that the construction is done legally.
d. Suffrage
- Every person should have the right to be heard. A democratic country such as
our own, can only be called democratic if every person has the opportunity to
voice out their opinion. Suffrage ensures that the winning candidate is the
person that majority of the citizens of the country want for that position
(assuming there is no cheating of votes and citizens are knowledgeable in
voting).

e. Paying tax
- There are many things that the government provides for its citizens who are in
need, like healthcare, education, and other public services. Taxes fund these
services and enables all working citizens essentially to help the other citizens
who are in need of these services.

3. Can the exercise of rights be abused? How? Give at least one example.
Yes, our rights end when it crosses the rights of others.
- A person may abuse his/her freedom of speech, spread false accusations and
wrongfully persecute other citizens.
