With this, the grade level reading coordinators of Daraga National High School in English

and Filipino conceptualized and implemented the different interesting reading enhancement and
intervention programs that addressed the learning needs of the students. These activities were
anchored on the theme “Brigada Pagbasa sa Pandemya: Batang Daragueno, Numero Uno Ka.” This
included the
3S (Slide and Share a Story),
Project DARES (Dream and Acquire Reading Efficiency Through Sharing),
Project EBasa,
Project Gabay Kaibigan,
Project CLAW (Compendium of Literature, Arts, And Writings)
Project REACH-(Reading Assessment Check) in English.

While in Filipino, they conducted the projects entitled

E-Basa, Bidstorya,
Tabang Sa Tugang,
Pagbasa Sa Pamilya and
Obra Mo, Basa Ko.

Project 3S for Grade 7 students, the reading teacher prepared and shared the video reading
lessons/power point presentations with a voice over to help the struggling readers.
With the project "E-BASA sa GITNA NG PANDEMYA," the Grade 7 students were able to
enhance their reading skills and comprehension and explore the reading materials online with the help
of their reading teachers.
The project DARES (Dream and Acquire Reading Efficiency through Sharing) in Grade 8 aimed
to improve the reading skills of the students with the help of an adult member of their family.
In the “BIDSTORYA” (Video Stories) the Grade 8 teachers prepared the video stories and sent them
to students to develop their reading skills and literacy.
Then, the Project Ebasa for Grade 9 learners helped them to explore, develop the speed, accuracy,
and comprehension in reading.
The TABANG SA TUGANG” project for Grade 9 students aimed to develop and enhance reading
skills of the students with the help of their adult/older member of the family. This activity also
strengthened the good companionship among the family members.
The Gabay Kaibigan Project is a mentoring approach in reading for Grade 10 students. This is a
blended mentoring approach in reading done through online for students with internet access and a
visit at home for those with limited or no internet access.

Another project for Grade 10 students, the “PAGBASA SA PAMILYA / FAMILY READING” that
aimed to promote a daily family reading habit.
The Grade 11 Reading project was “Obra Mo, Basa Ko: An Official Facebook Page for DNHS
students that encouraged learners to make their own literary works which helped them utilize their
intelligence and critical thinking skills.

The Project CLAW (Compendium of Literature, Arts, And Writings) for Grade 12 students
allowed the students to write poems, narrative texts, personal essays, and other forms of writing that
tell stories about the history of their hometown. They had to post it on Facebook with a hashtag
#ProjectCLAWBrigadaPagbasa. This had given the opportunity to showcase the learners’ and
volunteers’ ability in reading and writing.
The strong partnership and relevant engagement activities with different organizations for the
different BE programs helped the school through its collaboration with the Sangguniang Kabataan and
barangay council resulting to the success of the Brigada Pagbasa in the different barangays.
The SK Officials and barangay officials were also Brigada Pagbasa volunteers in the Project READS
(Reading Enhancement Amidst Difficult Situation) in barangay Kiwalo and the Project SK
PEÑAFRANCIA: Tabang sa DNHS Brigada Pagbasa. These barangay partners and volunteers had
generously sponsored the feeding program for the tutees. They also donated learning kits and reading
materials for the students.
“LIBRO KO, I-TABANG KO” and Lab Mo Ko, Lib Kita,” were the organized book donation
activities that aimed to collect both new and used books, journals and other instructional materials that
were donated to the school library and barangay mini libraries or learning spaces which were adopted
by the school.
The project “Pag- adal ko Suportahan mo, Diit na Espasyo Kaipuhan Ko,” provided assistance to
parents on how to transform their home into a fun learning space for the learners. It also mobilized the
teachers in reaching out and helping the learners improve their learning space at home and encouraged
participation among the barangay council and other stakeholders by providing any assistance to the
identified learners within their community who need further assistance in improving their learning
space at home.

“Eye-Got-You,” an eye screening project for the selected grade 7 students of DNHS. This was made
possible through the school partnership with Legazpi Eye Center which provided the basic eye check-
up and free eyeglasses for the students.

The school also conducted a webinar for reading volunteers and tutors who are 4 th year students of
Daraga Community College through the project ROAR (Reach Out and Read). These reading
volunteers and tutors had extended their helping hands in raising awareness regarding the importance
of reading and learning in their own localities.

“BOOK-LOD” another webinar which focused on one goal – to be ONE in building a pack of
abled reading volunteers among the group of selected Grade 11 and 12 Senior High School students,
Brigada sa Pagbasa Reading Volunteers and motivated reading warriors. It aimed to enhance the
reading capacity and reading comprehension skills of the students through the reading volunteers.
This reading capacity enhancement building project equipped the volunteers of the needed skills in
storytelling and trained how they could vividly and creatively tell stories virtually to SHS students
thereby help fire up the learners’ passion for reading.
The Reading Stories on Air which is another notable activity in this year’s Brigada Eskwela.
Through the Reading Stories on Air, not only is the reading ability intensified in this program but also
the integration of several other vital skills such as vocabulary development, speech improvement,
comprehension check and other similar activities.

Knowing the essence of numeracy skills and the role of Mathematics in one’s life, DNHS paved a
way for numeracy as another priority program in line with Brigada Pagbasa. This was through the
“Count-Me-In” which was inspired by Project NUMERALS and Project MASTERS. This was made
possible through the collaboration of the school administrators, teachers and barangay officials who
facilitated its implementation in the selected barangays in Daraga.
In lieu of resolutions and ordinances, the DNHS Family managed to forge partnership agreements
with different barangays of Daraga which agreed to take active involvement in the school endeavors
this year, to wit: Barangay Kiwalo, Barangay Cullat, Barangay Gapo, Barangay Kidaco, Barangay
Penafrancia, Barangay Bongalon and Barangay EM’s Barrio 1 Legazpi City. Moreover, the school
really appreciated the support of the SK Federated Officers who were also able to reach them thru
partnership agreements in the conduct of their Brigada Eskwela/Brigada Pagbasa activities.
Project SARIG- Sharing Another’s Responsibility for Individual Student’s Goal
A Family-Based Tutorial is this year’s umbrella program for our goal of achieving this year’s
theme--“Brigada Pagbasa sa Pandemya: Batang Daragueno, Numero Uno Ka”. This family-based
tutorial to the learners participated by the able individuals at home: parent, sibling, relative
who will serve as tutor of the learner.
Project TNX, stakeholders were acknowledged. Simple token of appreciation and certificates were
awarded to school partners and volunteers. With the Pag-rukyaw sa DWAY, a virtual thanksgiving
activity of the school conducted to honor our RBI Partner FEBC Care 104.3 FM.

OMAW-Outstanding Monthly Awards under project TNX and PRAISE System this program aims
to recognize efforts and services made of our teachers as well as our stakeholders
