General remarks 0
n.a.
Product-specific remarks 0
After installation of the magnification table option, a “MAG” detector calibration must be
performed.
The coexistent use of magnification table 1.5 and 1.8 is not allowed.
The magnification table must be installed in the order indicated in these instructions.
Acceptance test
It is recommended that the MAMMOMAT Inspiration acceptance test be performed when-
ever a new MAMMOMAT Inspiration system has been installed and changes that might
affect performance have been made to an existing system.
The MAMMOMAT Inspiration acceptance test includes all QA procedures in this Quality
Control Manual in order to ensure that a basic minimum image quality criterion is met
before the system is used with patients.
All annual tests from the Quality Control Manual must be performed.
Additional tests must be performed in accordance with the applicable regulations in the
country where the system is installed.
• Tests according to §16 of the X-ray Ordinance must be performed in Germany.
• In the USA, tests must be performed in accordance with the DHHS.

The functional capability of the MAMMOMAT Inspiration must be checked and in perfect
order before the magnification table is installed.
Any deficiencies detected must be corrected before any work steps are performed!
Transport damage 0
The system software and hardware are prepared for the magnification table. No specific
installation is needed. Any adaptation to the mechanical tolerances of the system that may
be necessary is described in the “Startup” section.
The snap-fit of the magnification table can be adjusted to ensure correct fit on the object
table.
1. Guide the magnification table over the object table until the very end.
¹ The snap-fit on each side (left and right) locks.
¹ If the MAG table is not securely attached, perform the steps under “Adjusting the
snap-fit”.
1. Loosen the two screws of the snap-fit on each side of the table.
2. Move the table within the available space so that the snap-fit lines up with the groove of
the object table. To secure the new position, tighten the screws on each side.
The magnification option will be configured within the MammoUnit web service interface
“Detector”. Depending on which other option is installed, set the detector to “Anrad Mag
1.5”, “Anrad Stereo Mag 1.5” or “Anrad Tomo Mag 1.5”.
1. Open the local service interface, select “Acquisition System -> open the Service Web
Interface”.
¹ The MammoUnit service interface will open.
¹ The firmware version (e.g. VC01E) is displayed on the “web service interface”,
upper right corner.
2. From the main menu select “Detector” and choose “Anrad Mag 1.5”, “Anrad Stereo
Mag 1.5” or “Anrad Tomo Mag 1.5” depending on which option is installed.
1. Set up the system to the point where the following conditions are met: A compression
paddle is inserted
- The system is switched on, system is ready for examination.
- The mag table is not assembled.
- A compression paddle is inserted.
- The compression is set to a thickness of approximately 20 mm.
2. Register a patient.
3. Enable a PV icon (Projection View).
4. In the WH AWS status bar, check to make sure the “large focus” symbol is visible.
8. Check to make sure the “large focus” icon in the AWS status bar changes to “small
focus”.
¹ The magnification table will be detected with the magnet glued within the table
and with the snap-fit on each side of the mag table.
¹ If the table detection fails, perform the steps in the section “Adjust the position
of the magnification table”.
13. If any of these steps fails, the magnification detection board underneath the object
table must be adjusted in position. Refer to the section “Adjust the position of the
mag-detection board”.
Required equipment 0
1. Guide the magnification table over the object table to the end (magnification mode).
2. Open the MammoUnit web service interface “Collimator”.
¹ The current collimation parameter can be found under “Details”.
3. Register a new service test patient “Collimator” with procedure QC raw and, for exam-
ple, 20 PVs with LCC.
4. Select manual mode with 26KV, 5mAs, and Mo/Mo.
5. Insert the biggest available paddle for magnification.
X 6. Expose one image and wait until it is displayed.
7. Select “Image/Inverse” from the UI.
8. Change the window level (brightness and contrast) so that the blades of the collimator
are visible. If necessary, use the “zoom from point” function to display all sides (chest
wall, left, right, rear) in detail.
¹ Check whether the blades of the collimator are visible (chest wall, left, right, rear).
¹ Remember that the edges of the paddle plate may be visible in the image!
Remove the plastic from the frame if necessary.
9. Using the MammoUnit web service interface/collimator, set the blades (chest wall, left,
right, rear) with the “In” buttons so that all the blades will be visible in the next exposed
image.
Perform the following steps:
10. Now open the collimation (chest wall, left, right, rear) again (stepwise) so that the
blades will not be visible (fine adjustment) in the next exposed image.
¹ The X-ray/light field can have a misalignment (sum of misalignments on opposite
sides) which may not exceed 2% of SID (13 mm).
X 11. Repeat adjustment steps 4-10 with target W/Rh. In that case for "Select lamellae to
set", select: “Tungsten small” in the MU service menu.
X 12. Now check all available paddles for magnification, insert a paddle, release an expo-
sure, and ensure that no collimator blades are visible. Otherwise, repeat the adjust-
ment according to steps 4-10 for the specific target.
Basically, the standard AEC target will not be changed. The following tables are shown for
orientation purposes only.
*)This target value for the tomosynthesis option may be modified accordingly to fulfill the
Quality Control “Test 1: Glandular dose”.
Backup 4.2
1. Hand over the MAMMOMAT Inspiration to the customer and inform him that the sys-
tem has been upgraded with the magnification table.
