Cisco ISE:

o Cisco ISE stands for Cisco Identity Services Engine.


o Cisco ISE is a security policy management platform.
o ISE is used for secure access management like ACS (Access Control Server).
o ISE is Single policy control point for entire enterprise wired & wireless technologies.
o Cisco ISE acts as a centralized, network security policy platform.
o Cisco ISE ensure that network admin implement best network security policy.
o ISE can be used as an AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) server.
o Another advanced function available within Cisco ISE is posturing.
o ISE is mainly use for posturing & policy compliance checking of hosts.
o Posturing check health of endpoints like antivirus, latest service pack & OS updates.
o Cisco ISE, also provide profiling which dynamically identify endpoints.
o Profiling uses network-level communications to determine information about endpoint.
o Profiling service identify, locate, & ensure the access of all endpoints connected.

ISE Setup and Configuration:
Cisco ISE can be installed inside a virtual machine, usually on VMware Workstation.
Select File > Open…

Select Cisco ISE OVA extension File from your system and Click Open.

Name the Virtual Machine anything you like and browser the location where to install.

It will take some time to import Cisco ISE Image.

After complete the Importing click Edit virtual machine settings or double click devices.

Remove Network Adapter 2, 3 and 4 and put the Network Adaptor in host-only mode.
Press OK to apply. Then Power on the Virtual Machine.

The setup program launches an interactive command-line interface (CLI) that prompts for the
required parameters. Type Setup to configure the required parameters.

It will be prompted with a set of parameters that you can configure.

IP Address: 192.168.80.250
IP NetMask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.80.1
DNS domain: google.com
Primary nameserver: 192.168.80.1
Username: admin
Password: Abc@12345
Check application status Show app status ise
Ping default gateway ping 192.168.80.1

Type https://192.168.80.250 in browser
