RE: Utah State University Dismissal of Jerry Bovee and Amy Crosbie
Dear Board Members and Trustees:

We are writing you with respect to the recent events at Utah State University (the
“University”) involving the dismissal of Associate Vice President & Deputy Athletic Director of
External Affairs Jerry Bovee and Executive Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman
Administrator Amy Crosbie. The University has provided very little information concerning Mr.
Bovee’s and no information concerning Mrs. Crosbie’s sudden dismissals. While we do not know
the facts and circumstances that led to their dismissals at this time, we believe that any information
that does come out could attack the credibility and character of Mr. Bovee and Mrs. Crosbie.
The dismissal of two true-blooded Aggies unquestionably will negatively impact current
and future USU student-athletes. Mr. Bovee is a University graduate and has been involved in
college athletics for decades, having focused his efforts on student-athletes’ success. Mrs. Crosbie
was a standout volleyball player for the University and knows first-hand what challenges, needs,
and support USU student-athletes need. Following a decorated playing career, Mrs. Crosbie
worked for the University as an academic coordinator and then as Executive Associate Athletic
Director.
Throughout their time at the University Mr. Bovee and Mrs. Crosbie have unquestionably
kept student-athletes and their experiences at the forefront of their values and actions. Our
collective experiences with Mrs. Crosbie have shown that she has always stood up for what is right
and ensured that student-athletes’ success, safety, and well-being was at the forefront of any
decision she made. More importantly, she cares about the student-athletes as people, especially
working closely with young women helping them grow into strong, confident women. Because of
Mrs. Crosbie’s experience as a student-athlete, we personally know that her efforts have elevated
the experiences of former and current USU student-athletes, treating them with nothing but respect
and care. Their dismissal is a loss for current and future athletes and the whole of Utah State
Athletics, a loss that will be felt immediately and moving forward.
We can unequivocally and without any hesitation state that in our experience, they are
individuals of integrity and prioritize doing the right thing. They have always carried themselves
with professionalism and commitment to the athletes they serve. Any statements or inference to
the contrary would be misleading.

In this light, we ask for a full and transparent investigation into their dismissal. Their
questionable dismissal also raises serious concerns about the entire process the University had
undertaken that has resulted in the termination of multiple people. We request the investigation
be conducted by a third-party that does not have any relationship with the University, the Athletics
Department, or any University employee involved in their dismissal, including any relationship
that existed with a University employee prior to their employment at the University.
