Server Set-Up

Setting up Computer for Server

1. Install Server 2008 R2


2. Reformat
3. Format Hard drive
4. Install Driver Packs

Adding Roles ADDS (Active Directory Domain Services)

1. Click “Server manager”


2. Click “Roles”
3. Click “ Add Roles”
4. Click “ Next”
5. Click “ Active Directory Domain Services” For File Sharing
6. Click “ Add Required Features”
7. Click “Next”
8. Click “Next”
9. Click “ Install”

Setting IP Address

1. Right Click “Network Adapter”


2. Click “ Change Adapter Setting”
3. Right Click “ LAN” Go to properties
4. Click “ IPV 4” and next Properties
5. Set (IP Address, Default Gateway, Preferred DNS Server)

Install ADDS Wizard

1. Window key + R
2. Type “dcpromo” and Install
3. Create a new domain ( Ex. Arc.css)
4. Click Drop down and select “ Windows Server 2008 R2”
5. Click “Next”
6. Check the tick box that labeled reboot while installing so that it will restart after the installation.

Checking of DNS Server

1. Check on LAN properties if there is changes on DNS Server. If there is changes type the IP
address of the computer.

Adding Roles DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol)

1. Add Roles
2. Click “ DHCP Server”
3. Click “ Next”
4. Click “ Next”
5. Click “ Validate”
6. Click “ Add”
7. Fill up Add Scope

Adding Roles (File Services)

1. Click “File Services”


2. Click “ Next”
3. Click “ File Server, Distributed File System, DFS Namespaces, DFS Replication, File Server
Resources Manager, Services for Network File System”
4. Click “ Next”
5. Click “Next”
6. Click “Next”
7. Click “Select” Fill up Windows Security (Username: Administrator Password: P@ssword) then
Ok.
8. Click “ Next”
9. Click “Local Disk (D:)” then hit “Next”
10. Click “Next”
11. Click “Install”

Adding Roles (Network Policy and Access Services)

1. Click “Network Policy and Access Services”


2. Click ”Next”
3. Click “ Network Policy Server, Routing and Remote Access Services, Remote Access Services,
Routing” then hit “Next”

Click “Install”
Adding Roles (Print and Document Services)

1. Click “Print and Document Services”


2. Click “ Next”
3. Click “ Next”
4. Click “ Print Server” then Click “ Next”
5. Click “ Install”

Turn Off Firewall

1. Click “ Windows Logo”


2. Click ” Control Panel”
3. Find “Windows Firewall”
4. Click “ Turn Windows Firewall on or off”
5. Turn off windows firewall by clicking the tick box.
6. Click “Allow a program or feature………”
7. Click the tick box of all programs and features that has “REMOTE” on its name. Hit OK.

Configure Remote Desktop

1. Click “Server Manager”


2. Click “ Server Manager (WIN-LLQU288BEH8)”
3. Click “ Configure Remote Desktop”
4. Click “Allow connection from computers…….” Then hit OK
5. Click “ Add ” then OK
6. Type “Ad” the click “Check Names” hit Ok

Folder Redirection

1. Open File Explorer


2. Open Local Disk D
3. Create a new folder and name it
4. Right click the folder and click “Properties”.
5. Click “Sharing” and click “Share”.
6. Click the drop down and select “Everyone”.
7. Click “Add”
8. Click “Permission Level and hit “Read and Write”
9. Click “Share”
10. Click “Done”
11. Copy Network Path and close

Organizational Unit

1. Click “Start, Administrative Tools, Active Directory Users and Computers”


2. Right Click the Domain and select “New” then click “Organizational Unit”
3. Type the name of the folder that created in Local Disk D.
4. Right Click the folder and select “New” then click “User”
5. Fill up the User information and remember “User Log on Name”
6. Set Password for that user and click “Password never expires”

Group Policy Management

1. Click “Start, Administrative Tools, Group Policy Management”


2. Collapse the Domain and right click the folder that was created in Local disk D and select “Create
a GPO in this domain……”
3. Type “Folder Redirection”
4. Right Click “Folder Redirection” and select “Edit”
5. Collapse “Policies, Windows Setting, Folder Redirection” click the intended location for folder
redirection. Right Click and select “Properties”
6. Click the drop down in the setting and select “Basic – Redirect everyone……”
7. Paste the Network Path on the” Root Path” and hit OK.

File Sharing

1. Install Printer Driver


2. Open Devices and Printers
3. Right Click the printer driver and select “Printer Properties”
4. Click the tick box “Share this printer”
5. Click “Sharing” then “Additional Drivers”
6. Click the all types of Processor then click “OK”
7. Click “Browse” and locate the of the printer driver.
8. Find the “Driver” Folder.
9. Select the first file then click “Open”
10. Click “OK” located above the window then click the “OK” below.

Client’s PC
Setting Up Computer for Client

1. Install Windows 7
2. Disk Partition
3. Format Drives
4. Install Driver Packs

Logging Created Users

1. Type “Ctrl + Alt + del” to switch user.


2. Log in the created Users in Organizational Unit.
3. Go to “Advance Sharing Set Up” Turn On in the DOMAIN set up.
4. Install MS Word

Connecting to the Domain on the Client PC

1. Go to “My Computer” Right Click and click “Properties”


2. Click “Changes Setting”
3. Click tick box “Domain” and type “Domain Name Ex. arc.css”
4. Log the server security credentials and click “Connect”.
5. It will prompt you to restart the Laptop then restart.

Router Configuration.

1. Open a Browser
2. Type “192.168.0.1” hit Enter.
3. Log In User Information in the Portal.

Laptop Configuration

1. Go to “Wireless Network”
2. Connect to the wireless router
3. Go to “My Computer” Right Click and click “Properties”
4. Click “Changes Setting”
5. Click tick box “Domain” and type “Domain Name Ex. arc.css”
6. Log the server security credentials and click “Connect”.
7. It will prompt you to restart the Laptop then restart.

Remote Desktop on the Client Computer


1. Click “ Windows Logo”
2. Click “ Remote Desktop Connection”
3. Click “Options“
4. Click “ General”
5. Fill up Computer: arc.css Username: administrator
6. Click “Connect”
