1. Purpose:
It is established for the proper operation of pH meter.
2. Scope:
It is applicable in the testing in quality control department.
3. Responsibilities and Authorities:
Quality Control Manager
Quality Control Officer
Asst. Quality Control
4. Operating Instructions:
 Wash pH electrode with distilled water carefully and clean its external surface with tissue paper
 Dip this electrode in Buffer pH 4.00 and press CAL
 Allow the meter to read buffer and then again press CAL
 The device enter in calibration mode and show CAL 1
 The screen shows END to confirm the calibration process completed
 Again wash pH electrode with distilled water carefully and clean its external surface with tissue
paper
 Dip this electrode in Buffer pH 7.00 and press CAL
 The device enter in calibration mode and show CAL 2
 The screen shows END to confirm the calibration process completed
 Dip this electrode in Buffer pH 10.00 and press CAL
 The device enter in calibration mode and show CAL 3
 The screen shows END to confirm the calibration process completed
 Press ENTER to end two point calibration
 Again wash pH electrode with distilled water carefully and dip in the sample whose pH is to be
measured
 Stir gently with electrode and allow to stable
 Note the reading
 Wash pH electrode with distilled water carefully and place in 3M KCl solution.
5. Precautions:
 Avoid buffer contamination
 Protect electrodes from damage
6. Cleaning and maintenance:
Clean the external surface with dry clean dust.
