Niva: A pleasant morning/afternoon to one and all

present here. Today we will be presenting an

interesting topic in geography, Humidity.
Shriya: So, let’s get started with the base question.
What IS humidity? Humidity is the concentration of
water vapor present in the air.
Rehmat: Water vapor is the gaseous state of water. It is
invisible to our eyes. Humidity indicates the likelihood
for precipitation, dew, or fog to be present.
Shrey: This is the formula for density. There are three
main types of humidity: 1- Absolute humidity, 2-
Relative Humidity, 3- Specific Humidity
Suhaan: So let’s start with Absolute humidity. Absolute
humidity is the measure of the actual amount of water
vapor in the air. The higher the amount of water vapor,
the higher the absolute humidity.
Shreyan: Relative humidity is a measure of how much
water vapor is in a water-air mixture compared to the
maximum value possible. RH is a ratio of the humidity
ratio of a particular water-air mixture compared to the
saturation humidity ratio at a given temperature (dry-
bulb).
Niva: We have specific humidity next. Humidity is the
concentration of water vapor present in the air. Water
vapor, the gaseous state of water, is often invisible to
the human eye. Humidity indicates the likelihood for
precipitation, dew, or fog to be present.
Shriya: A hygrometer is a meteorological instrument
that is used to measure the humidity of the air. A
worldwide way these devices work is by using a
material that attracts moisture.
Rehmat: Now, I will tell you some facts about humidity.
1. Molds love a humid home.
2. Moisture can kill your electronics.
3. The ideal relative humidity level is between 40% and
60%
Shrey: Here are some facts about Hygrometers:
1. In 1783 Horace Benedict de Saussure invented a
hygrometer using human hair to determine
relative humidity.
2. Instruments such as guitars, pianos, violins, and
harps can be seriously damaged by humidity and
many musicians use hygrometers to help
determine proper humidity.
3. A hygrometer is also known as a psychrometer.

Suhaan: Now let’s move on to the quiz!

This is the first question:
The _______ the amount of water vapor, the
higher the absolute humidity.
The options are:
a) Lower
b)Higher
c) Middle
d)Density
The answer is option B, higher! Now, over to
Neel for the next question.

Neel: Now for question 2.

Humidity indicates the likelihood for____.
a) Precipitation
b)Dew
c) Fog
d)All of these
That’s right! The answer is option D, All of these!

Shreyan: What are the 3 types of humidity?

The answer is Relative Humidity, Specific Humidity,
and Absolute Humidity.

Niva: With this, we end our presentation.

Neel: Thank you everyone for viewing this

presentation of ours, and a special thanks to our
geography teacher, Liza Ma’am for giving us this
opportunity to present in front of the class.

Rehmat: Thank you to my group members as well,

for we worked so hard together to make this
presentation a success.

Everyone: THANK YOU!
