STUDY PLAN FOR WINNIE FRIEND NJERI NDEGWA

I have been admitted at Thompson Rivers University to study a Bachelor


of Science Degree. My overall educational goal is to attain speciality in
the field of sciences. I have a background in nursing education. I hope to
gain further knowledge and skills in sciences to prepare me for a future
career in the field of applied sciences.
The Bachelor of Science program offers opportunities for practical
experience and co-op opportunities for students. Upon completion of the
program, a student has opportunity to enroll in professional career
pathways. Upon graduation, I plan to come back to Kenya to continue a
career in the field of sciences.
I am aware of expectations of international students, I am committed to
be full time, focused on studies and completing within the timelines of
the study permit.
I have a strong family of five and my parents are committed to support
my studies in Canada. They have sufficient resources to pay for my
tuition and living expenses while studying in Canada.

Personal Statement
A Registered Nurse with the requisite skillset to perform under pressure, graduated from KMTC-
Mombasa where I developed proven traits in critical thinking, and team work. Adaptable and
quality-oriented when it comes to patient care. A dedicated health care worker with a sense of
purpose.

Work Experience
June 2020 to date:
Registered Nurse III at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital’s female surgical ward
Key Duties;
 Provision of nursing care to surgical patients, completing pre- and post-operative nursing
procedures.
 Carrying out physical assessments, administering medications/Intravenous fluids and
evaluating health care outcomes.
 Carrying out wound dressing procedures.
 Maintaining records on patient’s health conditions and nursing care

March 2020- June 2020


Registered Nurse III at Githunguri Health Centre, Ruiru
Under Maternal Child Health clinic (level 3)
Key Duties;
 Administered vaccines and vitamin supplements to infants, children, antenatal and
postnatal mothers.
 Counselled and tested clients for various Family Planning methods.
 Assessed, diagnosed and planned care for clients with high-risk conditions during the
antenatal period and educated them on proper diet and appropriate lifestyle changes to
avoid complications.
